ANOINTING OF THE SICK On Friday, March 24 at 12:10pm, Father Ryan will celebrate a special Mass with the Anointing of the Sick. Those who struggle with chronic illness, who are facing surgery, or who deal with the weakness that comes with age are especially encouraged to participate.

ST VINCENT DE PAUL HELPS A NEIGHBOR GET BACK ON HER FEET A young woman enjoyed her full time job at a restaurant. When working, the woman was standing and walking continually during her shift. Unfortunately, she broke an ankle and being on her feet was no longer an option. After she took her accumulative leave, her ankle had not fully healed and she could not return to work. With the loss of income, this neighbor did not have enough funds in which to pay her rent. The woman called the St Vincent de Paul Helpline requesting assistance (206-767-6449). JOB OPENINGS The Cathedral Kitchen is looking to fill the paid position of Assistant Director, responsible for oversight of Kitchen operations. This is a 30-35 hour/week position with benefits. The Cathedral Kitchen provides 100 meals each weeknight for our homeless and low-income neighbors. The Social Outreach and Advocacy department is looking to hire a paid Outreach Assistant to provide administrative and program support. This is a part-time, 10-15 hour/week position. RICE BOWL STORIES The changing climate has had an impact on Honduras, but farmers there are learning new techniques to water their crops, protect their natural resources, and keep their families healthy. Rony Figueroa, his wife Reina, and their two sons grow corn, beans, and bananas on their land, which is in an area hard hit by high temperatures and lack of rain. Recently, they have experienced frequent drought and strong storms as well. Rony joined a CRS project where he learned to repair an old reservoir and install a low-cost irrigation system that uses very little water. He also learned from CRS how to let his harvest residue rot, providing much needed fertilizer for his soil. He now has enough produce and income to feed his family, help others in his community, and even send his oldest son to soccer academy! Rony has become an avid advocate for the environment, saying “I have learned a lot about how to take care of, value, and protect the natural resources that the Lord has given us. TOILETRY DONATIONS If you are traveling and staying at a hotel, consider bringing the small toiletries back to St. James. There is a donation bin located in the Cathedral Bookstore. Our St. Vincent de Paul conference packages the toiletries and distributes them to those in need. Thank you!
TEEN, YOUNG ADULT AND ADULT VOLUNTEERS NEEDED FOR FAITH FRIENDS MINISTRY Faith Friends is a unique blend of our Faith Mentor, children’s faith formation program, and an inclusion ministry. The ministry's goal is to give children and teens ages 7- 18 with physical, cognitive and/or intellectual disabilities access to the parish community, social events, and faith formation. Perhaps the most unique aspect of the Faith Friends program is the Faith Peer program. Faith Peers are teens and young adults who have chosen to live out their discipleship and share some of their personal time in dedication and service to the goals of the program. MINDFUL ALTERNATIVES SUPPORT GROUP Monthly support group for family members of adult children with mental illness. Meets via Zoom on the last Saturday of each month. This group has the very specific focus of helping family members navigate resources available to those who suffer from a disabling mental illness and reminding us that we need to take care of ourselves as we walk this difficult road. SAVE THE DATE: CHOIR CAMP 2023 All children and youth with unchanged (treble) voices entering grades 1 through 8 are encouraged to register for Choir Camp!
