AFGHAN FAMILY NAVIGATES TRANSITIONS A father experienced a reduced work schedule due to seasonal changes in the hospitality industry. Members of the St. James Refugee Support Team connected his family with St. Vincent de Paul and the Hunthausen Fund to receive temporary rental assistance. Additionally, team members accompanied this father in accessing employment training and job leads. One referral led to a new, full-time job for the father! ARCHDIOCESE MENTAL HEALTH MINISTRY WELLNESS WEDNESDAYS On the first Wednesday of each month, 7-8:30pm, on Zoom, free presentations are offered on different mental health topics. SAVE THE DATE: CHOIR CAMP 2023 All children and youth with unchanged (treble) voices entering grades 1 through 8 are encouraged to register for Choir Camp! FEBRUARY IS BLACK HISTORY MONTH As we continue our commemoration of Black History Month, give yourself time to revisit the U.S. Bishops’ pastoral letter against racism, Open Wide Our Hearts: The Enduring Call to Love (https://www.usccb.org/resources/open-wide-our-hearts_0.pdf). In it, they address this particularly destructive and persistent form of evil. Despite many promising strides made in our country, racism still infects our nation. HYGIENE ITEMS FOR OUR UNSHELTERED NEIGHBORS The St Vincent de Paul Society is seeking donations of hygiene items for Seattle’s unsheltered neighbors. Donated items will be assembled into individual hygiene kits which will then be distributed in person by SVdP volunteers several days each week to those in need. Hygiene items being sought include: hotel/travel size shampoo; lotion; bar soap; hand sanitizer. Also: disposable razors; deodorant; lip balm; dental floss, toothbrush, toothpaste; Kleenex. The donation collection box is located in the Cathedral Book Store. Donations can be made Monday through Friday 11am-3pm and after each weekend Mass.
