ST. VINCENT DE PAUL COLLECTION This Sunday is the Third Sunday of the Month! As you leave the Cathedral, the ushers will be at the doors to receive any offering you are able to make in support of our St. Vincent de Paul Society outreach to the poor and needy in our downtown neighborhood. Your support makes a tremendous difference! Thank you.
YOUR SUPPORT OF SVDP MAKES ALL THE DIFFERENCE An older woman was forced to go on unemployment when experiencing health issues during the pandemic. Unable to return to the high pressure job that she had performed for over 20 years, she applied for unemployment. When unemployment ran out, the woman called the SVdP Helpline requesting assistance (206-767-6449). Thanks to your support, we were able to pay a portion of her rent and provide other resources. The woman is pursuing remote employment in the hope that she can work safely from her home. Information, Jo Ann Wiesner, 206-291-4012 or wiesnerjo@gmail.com
VISIT THE CATHEDRAL COLUMBARIUM The Cathedral’s new Columbarium was blessed by Archbishop Etienne on December 22, 2021. A columbarium is a cemetery for the reverent burial of cremated remains. The way we honor the mortal remains of our deceased family members and friends is a reflection of the faith we profess in the Nicene Creed: we believe in the resurrection of the dead, and the life of the world to come. The columbarium is now open for prayer whenever the Cathedral is open. It is a beautiful place to visit and pray for all our beloved dead.

HEALTHY BODY, HEALTHY MIND, HEALTHY PLANET Thursday, March 3, 7pm-8pm on Zoom. Join us for a discussion of Healthy Mind, the second in a series on Healthy Body, Health Mind, Healthy Planet. Not only does what we eat greatly impact our physical health, it is also a key factor in achieving mental well-being. Learn how food and mood are closely related and how it is possible to avoid the pitfalls of nutrition driven irritability, and energy ups and downs. Share with others your own personal observations on how food effects the way you feel. We will notice how the foods that are good for our brains are the foods that are good for our overall health, and are also good for the environment. PREPARES (Pregnancy and Parenting Support) is a nurturing response of the Catholic community in Washington State to “walk the journey” with pregnant and parenting women, men, and families with children up to age 5 who find themselves lacking a healthy support network. The program, an initiative of our state’s bishops, came into being five years ago. Around the state, PREPARES has been active in helping provide basic needs to parents and their children, organizing parent support groups, providing opportunities for parents and children to get together, and family companions to share relationships with a parent in the community. If you are interested in being part of PREPARES at St. James Cathedral, contact Ted Nutting, theodorenutting@msn.com.
