Lights Up on Lincoln Square is in full swing! This week, our outdoor performances will feature Mariachi Nuevo Mexico, with Rosa Mexicano selling Chicken Tortilla Soup today at 4pm, the Gabriele Tranchina Band on Wednesday, and Six13 on Thursday.


Our Tree Lighting last Monday, December 5, was a huge success, thanks to Chia's Dance Party, The Department of Spectacle, WABC-TV's Nina PinedaRosa MexicanoNYC Parks, our local public and elected officials, and all who attended the fabulous festivities. Take a peek at some of the photos from the Tree Lighting and our outdoor performances from last week featuring the Eric Person Quartet, VocalSouL, and Frank London and the Klezmer Brass Allstars.

COVID-19, Flu, and RSV in NYC

New York City is facing high levels of COVID-19, flu, and respiratory syncytial virus (RSV). The New York City Health Commissioner issued an advisory that strongly urges New Yorkers to wear masks in public indoor settings and crowded outdoor settings. The flu vaccine and COVID-19 boosters are our best protection against serious illness and complications. It’s safe to get both vaccines at the same time! To find a location near you, go to nyc.gov/vaccinefinder. NYC Council Member Erik Bottcher is hosting a COVID-19 booster clinic on Tuesday, December 13, and Wednesday, January 18. TONIGHT 12/13: West Side Cannabis Town Hall

NYC Council Member Gale Brewer, Assembly Member Linda B. Rosenthal, the New York State Office of Cannabis Management, and a number of other agencies will discuss the legalization and rollout of legal marijuana across the State in a Cannabis Town Hall on Tuesday, December 13, 2022, from 6 – 8 pm at the John Jay College of Criminal Justice. JCC Manhattan Winter Clothing Drive for Children through 12/16

DOT Accepting Applications for 2023 Open Streets Program

On December 5, 2022, the Department of Transportation announced the availability of online applications for the 2023 Open Streets program. Through the Open Streets program, the Department of Transportation works with community organizations, schools, and businesses to provide activities in public space created by closing roads to vehicular traffic. If your Open Street will launch on or before June 30, 2023, you must apply by January 31, 2023. If your Open Street will launch on or after July, 2023, you must apply by April 14, 2023. The Kindergarten Application is Open, Apply by 1/20

The kindergarten application is open!  If your child was born in 2018 and lives in New York City, they are eligible to attend kindergarten in fall 2023. Apply here by January 20, 2023. Learn more here.

Tickets to the Metropolitan Opera

The Metropolitan Opera has experienced a cyberattack that has temporarily impacted network systems, which include the website, box office, and call center. All performances will take place as scheduled; however, at this time, the Met box office is unable to process new ticket orders or facilitate exchanges and refunds. Holiday Learn to Swim: Free Swimming Lessons

When school is out, it's a great time to learn the lifelong skill of swimming!

Children ages 6-17 can enroll in a weeklong program offered by NYC Parks that teaches water safety and swimming skills. Children will learn basic swimming skills and learn how to enjoy the water safely. All classes will be held on weekdays. Registration will take place from December 7 through December 21 on a first-come, first-served basis. The Gertrude Ederle Recreation Center, which is conveniently located near Lincoln Square, will be one of the sites for the lessons. To register, please call the Citywide Aquatics office at (718) 760-6969 ext. 0. For more info, click here.
