Resurgence summer camp 2026

Friday 10 to Sunday 12 July • Green & Away, Worcester

The sun is shining! We invite you to join us to experience a weekend of connection, celebration and community at Resurgence summer camp.

This year's speakers include House of Hackney co-founder Frieda Gormley, former monk and peace activist Satish Kumar, and Network of Wellbeing founder Roger Higman.

Music will be performed by an incredible line-up of artists, including Dragonsfly, Martha Tilston and Natalie Fée.

Fiona Eadie and Diana Sanders will bring the oral tradition to the festival with ancient storytelling and ecopoetry.

Resurgence & Ecologist Editor Dave Reeve and Assistant Editor Niellah Arboine will co-host 'In Right Relationship: A Long Table Conversation'. This will be an experimental and experiential setting, in which we will engage in a shared exploration of how we speak, imagine and story our place on Earth, and what it might mean to live in right relationship with the living world.

There will also be a range of engaging workshops to participate in, including a voice workshop with William Tooby, a reading for wellbeing circle with Manon Martini, an ecopoetry writing workshop with Diana Sanders, and

60th anniversary summer wreath-making

with Emily Martin.

This gathering is limited to just 140 places, so please book well in advance to avoid disappointment.

Keynote speakers

Frieda Gormley

'In the company of Nature'

What if business could be a force for life?

Frieda Gormley is a co-founder of House of Hackney,

a British B Corp interiors brand reimagining business as

a force for good.

Over the past decade, what started as a love affair with Nature’s beauty, prints and palette has evolved into a question that now guides much of Frieda's life and mission at House of Hackney.

During this session, Frieda will be speaking on the slow shift from extraction to regeneration. From growth-at-all-costs to something more rooted and reciprocal. From seeing Nature as a resource to remembering that we are Nature. And that when Nature thrives, so do we.

Satish Kumar

'Peace is possible'

Satish Kumar will be speaking about peace among nations, and how peace is not only urgently needed, but also possible. Peace is more than an absence of war: it is a way of living

in harmony with each and all.

Satish calls for us to make peace with ourselves, with Nature and with all the peoples of the world. His new book

Peace is Possible is published by Bloomsbury (May 2026).

Satish is an activist and internationally renowned speaker on ecological issues. Born in India, he has been a Jain monk, nuclear disarmament advocate and pacifist. He walked 8,000 miles from India to America for peace. Satish is the honorary president of Schumacher College, Editor Emeritus of Resurgence & Ecologist magazine and a Fellow of

Temenos Academy.

Roger Higman

'The good life, and how we can live it'

Roger Higman is passionate about creating a truly sustainable civilisation that helps everyone to thrive. For the last twelve years, he has been Director of the Network of Wellbeing, which gives him a key role in a growing movement that uses wellbeing science to drive social change for the benefit of people and planet. He spent much of his previous career campaigning for Friends of the Earth, working on issues such as road building, air pollution, climate change,

economic reform and biodiversity.

Roger is a Trustee of the Torbay Community Development Trust and formerly a Director of the Flameworks Creative Arts Facility in Plymouth, where he lives with Karen, his partner. When he's not spending time with Karen and her three daughters, he's normally to be found on his allotment.

Music and performance

Dragonsfly

Dragonsfly create a compelling and captivating atmosphere with their exquisite, groove-driven, rootsy music. With an array of contemporary and unusual instruments, their performances span a diverse selection of styles and cultures from Celtic French and Breton inspired dance music to up-tempo Eastern European tracks and moody

Middle and Far Eastern songs.

Regulars at early Resurgence summer camps, Dragonsfly offer celebratory, connecting, heart-warming, nourishing, uplifting, hypnotic and life-affirming music. The infectious, compelling charisma of the band can urge you into wild and vibey, yet nourishing and expansive dimensions.

Martha Tilston

With her pure, silken voice and lyrics that inspire and captivate, Martha Tilston has developed a successful musical career with a large and loyal following worldwide.

She has played on some of the world’s most prestigious stages and at festivals, recorded and released several critically acclaimed albums, gained a nomination for BBC best newcomer, appeared as a guest vocalist for Zero 7, toured internationally, and worked with some of the world’s

most inspiring musicians.

“She has the power to draw an audience into her world, leaving all those present with a smile, and a few issues to ponder, too.” —Time Out

Natalie Fée and friends

'Under the oak'

Join singer-songwriter and environmental campaigner Natalie Fée and friends for 'Under the oak', a performance of folk music, poetry and stories inspired by Natalie’s year sitting under a local oak tree, which she embarked upon after

a conversation at Resurgence summer camp in 2023,

with encouragement from Satish!

Weaving the wild into song, Natalie draws her inspiration from a deep, embodied connection to Nature, blending the traditional warmth of folk with poetic lyrics, enchanting harmonies and healing invocations. Singles from the album have already had plays on BBC Introducing, and have clocked up over 350,000 streams, so she thought it was time to share them live. She is delighted to be playing with violinist Clare Mactaggart and friends with us this summer.

Storytelling and poetry

Poetry readings with Diana Sanders

Award-winning poet Diana Sanders will be sharing her ecopoetry throughout the weekend. Ecopoetry has seen a rise in popularity in recent years, but examples of the broader genre of Nature poetry have existed since the dawn of poetry itself. Readers of Resurgence & Ecologist will be familiar with ecopoetry as a type of literature that expresses connection with Nature and the environment.

Ecopoetry is Nature-centred rather than human-centred.

But often it is about how humans create havoc in the

non-human world. Sometimes it is urgent and unsettling. Contemporary eco-poets use unique imagery, sound composition, art and metaphor to draw readers into the natural world. They also create works that evoke an emotional response, encouraging readers to reflect on

their relationship with the environment.

Storytelling with Fiona Eadie

Telling stories that entertain, illuminate, engage and inspire, to all age groups in a variety of settings, Fiona Eadie is passionate about language and about bringing the spoken word to life. Like most storytellers, she works with stories that have come down to us through the oral tradition and tells these face to face rather than reading from

books or scripts.

Fiona studied at the International School of Storytelling in Sussex and now delights in telling stories in libraries, museums, art centres, businesses, schools, and at weddings and out of doors to adults, to children and to groups of people who have come together for a specific event.

She devises new stories of place and runs regular storytelling sessions for all ages at Ruskin Mill in Gloucestershire.

Workshops

Bringing in the wild: an ecopoetry workshop with Diana Sanders

Take a breath from the fast-paced world and join ecopoet Diana Sanders on a beautiful writing journey to bring you closer to the wild that is within. We will invite this connection in a compassionate environment with

writing exercises that fire the imagination and

the use of all our senses. Diana will help loosen any judgemental thoughts about writing and support you to reveal your authentic writing voice.

Diana is an award-winning poet. Most of her work is influenced by the wildlife and landscape of North Wales, where she lives. Her latest project is a collaborative book of poetry with three other poets from North Wales: I Am Nature, published by Veneficia Publications in 2025.

Reading for wellbeing with Manon Martini

Every reader knows the transformative power of books to guide us through life, sweep us away to a distant land, or just sit with us in the trenches when things aren’t going so well. This is the essence of bibliotherapy: the use of books and reading for the enhancement of wellbeing, drawing on our personal relationship with literature to help us process and navigate the real world.

In this session, Manon Martini will guide you through close readings and encourage gentle reflections on your responses to the texts, and what they bring up for you as an individual. The session will also include an introduction to book journalling as a supportive wellbeing practice.

Voice workshop with William Tooby

William Tooby is an eco-facilitator and a voice coach passionate about singing raga. Originally drawn to India to better understand music in the 1970s before becoming an organic farmer, he went on to sing a cappella with various groups before focusing on raga. He loves to facilitate others in finding their own unique and embodied voice.

William is founder and director of The Fold CIC, which hosts Green & Away on the land each year. The Fold was created in the knowledge that humankind is heading for a catastrophe, that if we are to survive we need to learn to live differently, more gently and reverentially, and that business as usual is not an option.

R60 summer wreath workshop

with Emily Martin

Join us in creating a beautiful summer wreath to celebrate the 60th anniversary of Resurgence, guided by Emily Martin, as well as making smaller wreaths that you can take home.

We will use locally sourced foliage and dried materials, including plants foraged from The Fold.

Movement, meditation, and open space

Walking meditation with Colette Stein

Colette Stein will be offering a walking meditation, tuning in to the elements. Colette is a senior yoga and meditation teacher with Yoga Alliance Professionals and has a PGCert in Eastern Philosophy.

Open space sessions

An opportunity to work together with whatever topics arise from our weekend. If you have something that you would like to share, come along and participate in an interactive session. If there's something you'd really like to know about, suggest a topic and see what emerges.

Open mic

The open mic around the fire is your chance to share a song, dance, sing or perform solo or with friends. Bring instruments, a poem, a song and join in the entertainment.

We hope to see you at what is set to be another beautiful, enriching summer camp, during our landmark

60th anniversary year.

With all good wishes,

The Resurgence Team
