OLA’s Sabor 2025 Cocktail Fundraiser

Returns to The Church with

John Leguizamo as Event Chair

Please join us.

Celebrating 23 years of service, OLA of Eastern Long Island will hold its signature Sabor cocktail fundraiser July 18, 2025 at The Church in Sag Harbor. Acclaimed actor, comedian, playwright, and producer John Leguizamo chairs this year’s event. Leguizamo has won a Primetime Emmy Award for his variety special John Leguizamo: Freak and has received a Special Tony Award for his body of work and his commitment to bringing diverse stories and audiences to Broadway for three decades.

Sabor will delight the senses with Mexican tapas prepared by La Fondita’s Chef de Cocina Juan Gerónimo, cocktails made with award-winning mezcal from Dos Hombres, owned by the principal actors of the celebrated series Breaking Bad, wines from Wölffer Estate Vineyard, and other beverages from Peconic Beverage. The eclectic music of Latin Moon, featuring percussionist Carolina Fuentes (aka Mila Tina), vocalist and pianist Carolina Kohn, and saxophonist and flutist Julie Bluestone, will energize the space with sultry Latin jazz rhythms. Sabor also features a silent auction curated by Yubal Márquez Fleites of Arte Collective Contemporary & Fine Art.

“We are so excited about this year’s Sabor event!” said OLA Executive Director Minerva Perez. “And given our commitment to celebrating Latino artistic production in addition to our central advocacy mission, we are thrilled to have John Leguizamo serve as the chair of this event. Both on and off stage he is a dedicated advocate for Latino and immigrant rights and causes, and we are so proud of this collaboration.”

Leguizamo, who is Colombian-American, wrote and produced his one-man show Latin History for Morons, which highlights the role of Latinos in American history and which was nominated for the 2018 Tony Award for Best Play.

Founded in 2002, OLA of Eastern Long Island works to create a more equitable East End for Latino immigrants through advocating for just and inclusive government and school policies; protecting families; nurturing power and unity among Latinos through leadership workshops and other programs; and building bridges among different sectors of the East End community through celebrating arts and culture.
