*Call to Worship
Liturgist: A thousand days are but a moment to God;
People: All flesh is grass, and withers away.
Liturgist: Still we treasure our days with those whom we love,
People: And reluctantly give them back to God.
Liturgist: On this day, we thank God for the saints in our lives.

*Opening Prayer
Loving God, you have been our dwelling place in all generations. Before the mountains were brought forth, or ever you had formed the earth and the world, from everlasting to everlasting you are God. We bless your holy name, O God, for all your servants who, having finished their course, now rest from their labors. Give us grace to follow the example of their steadfastness and faithfulness, to your honor and glory; through Christ Jesus our Lord. Amen.

Opening Hymn
For All the Saints
UMH #711, vss 1,4
  1. For all the saints, who from their labors rest, who thee by faith before the world confessed, thy name O Jesus, be forever blest. Alleluia, Alleluia!
4. O blest communion, fellowship divine! We feebly struggle, they in glory shine; yet all are one in thee, for all are thine. Alleluia, Alleluia!

Lead Me, Lord”
UMH #473
Lead me, Lord, lead me in thy righteousness;
make thy way plain before my face.
For it is thou, Lord, thou, Lord only,
that makest me dwell in safety.

COMMUNION LITURGY FOR ALL SAINTS
Prepared by Helen Jenkins, Rach Ward and Rachel Widdowson.

All are welcome at the Lord’s Table.

Loving God, as the dormant seed goes into the ground, we bring what is dead before Your life-giving Spirit. As the seed grows into barley and wheat to be used in the bread we bring... renew us with Your Love.
AMEN

We offer ourselves, acknowledging that we often live fearfully and Your perfect love is not in us. As the gardener tends the vine so it may produce more fruit in the wine we have before us ... ...create of us saints who let Your Son shine through that others may see Your glory.
AMEN

Good and generous God, through the self-giving of your Son we are one with all your people. Living together in Christ, may we serve your Kingdom. Dying in him, may we rest in you. Rising together in him, may our gratitude and praise echo your everlasting love for us.

PRAYER OF THANKSGIVING

The Lord be with you
AND ALSO WITH YOU
Salvation belongs to our God,

TO HIM, FOR EVER AND EVER.
Praise and glory be to You, O God who, from generation to generation
has poured upon us the Father’s extravagant love that we might be called the children of God. We praise you for your love that transforms, that sustains
and enables us to inhabit the right place, - the place where you call us to be. Salvation belongs to our God

TO HIM, FOR EVER AND EVER.
Wisdom and thanks be to you, O God, that in Your Son, Jesus Christ,
you have revealed the fullness of Yourself in the fullness of humanity; that in the ordinariness of human lives you make extra-ordinary the witness of Your saints. We give you thanks for those who have inspired us, and revealed the love of Christ. Salvation belongs to our God

TO HIM, FOR EVER AND EVER.
Honor and power and strength be to you, O God for in You our hope is rooted. Just as You are pure, so we are made pure, even as Your light shines through our cracked lives. We honor you, remembering Your faithfulness. You are our God, forever and ever. Salvation belongs to our God

TO HIM, FOR EVER AND EVER.
Amen!

BLESSING AND GLORY AND WISDOM, THANKSGIVING AND HONOUR, POWER AND STRENGTH BELONG TO OUR GOD FOR ALL AGES.
This is the way it was, and is, and will be.
AMEN!

The Lord Jesus, on the night when He was betrayed, took a loaf of bread and when He had given thanks, he broke it and said, ‘This is my body that is for you. Do this in remembrance of me.’ In the same way, he took the cup also after supper, saying, ‘This cup is the new covenant in my blood. Do this in remembrance of me. So as our Lord commanded, and as saints have done throughout the ages, we gather at this table to remember Christ: living, dying, and rising. As we offer these gifts send Your Holy Spirit to transform us, that in this moment through bread and wine through our memories of those who have inspired our faith and through our fellowship here today, we may meet with you. Inspire us by Your presence to live lives which continue the witness of saints in serving the Kingdom you bring here on earth.
AMEN!

Blessing and glory and wisdom, thanksgiving and honour, power and strength belong to our god for all ages.
THIS IS THE WAY IT WAS, AND IS, AND WILL BE. AMEN!
(the Bread is broken and sharing of bread and wine)

Thanksgiving Prayer after Distribution
Good and generous God, through the self-giving of your Son we are one with all your people. Living together in Christ, may we serve your Kingdom. Dying in him, may we rest in you. Rising together in him, may our gratitude and praise echo your everlasting love for us. Amen.

Scripture Readings

Romans 12:1-2
Train yourself in godliness, 8 for, while physical training is of some value, godliness is valuable in every way, holding promise for both the present life and the life to come.

Timothy 4:7-8
12 I appeal to you therefore, brothers and sisters, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship. 2 Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your minds, so that you may discern what is the will of God—what is good and acceptable and perfect.

Mark: 1:12-13
12 And the Spirit immediately drove him out into the wilderness. 13 He was in the wilderness forty days, tempted by Satan; and he was with the wild beasts; and the angels waited on him.

 We Respond

*Offertory Prayer
Loving God, we humbly dedicate these offerings to your use. Like the saints who have gone before us, we are comforted by the knowledge that you will multiply these gifts. Allow this money to become a resource that lifts the shadows of despair from the recesses of people’s lives. We recognize that only you can restore faith to the faithless, hope to the hopeless, and love to the loveless. May your will be done on Earth as it is in Heaven! Amen.
