Call to Worship
Liturgist: Let go of the demands of this day. Rest in the quiet of this sanctuary.
People: The noise of those demands rings in our ears.
Liturgist: There will always be needs to be met, demands on our time, but now is a time to rest.
People: A span of years in which we love, and learn, and serve.
Liturgist: God has set God’s seal upon our hearts,
People: Help us to understand the resting time, that it is a time to be at peace and grow in God’s love.
Together: Lord prepare us to be a sanctuary, Pure and holy, tried, and true. With thanksgiving, we’ll be a living Sanctuary for you. (TFWS #2164, Sanctuary)

Opening Prayer
From the demands and pressures of this past week, we come, O Lord, seeking rest and renewal. Hear the cries of our hearts, our prayers, our needs. Heal and restore us. For we ask this in Jesus’ Name. AMEN.

Scripture Readings

Matthew 5:8
Blessed are the merciful, for they will receive mercy.

Luke 10:38-42
38Now as they went on their way, he entered a certain village, where a woman named Martha welcomed him into her home. 39She had a sister named Mary, who sat at the Lord’s feet and listened to what he was saying.40 But Martha was distracted by her many tasks; so she came to him and asked, “Lord, do you not care that my sister has left me to do all the work by myself? Tell her then to help me.” 41But the Lord answered her, “Martha, Martha, you are worried and distracted by many things; 42there is need of only one thing. Mary has chosen the better part, which will not be taken away from her.”

Loving Spirit, loving Spirit, you have chosen me to be,
You have drawn me to your wonders,
You have set your sign on me.

Offertory Prayer
Loving God, you have shown us your ways and led us in the paths of abundance. You have blessed us and kept us safe. In you we see that we are loved. We offer you our lives, for we have chosen to follow you. We offer you our praise, for your love is great. Use our gifts, our money, and our hearts to establish your realm of love upon the earth. Amen.

The Blessing and Sending Forth
As we take our worship, praise and prayer from this place and into our daily lives, may our lives be sustained through the love of our Heavenly Father. May we feel the presence of our Saviour walking beside us, and know the power of the Spirit in both our actions and our words.
