Opening Prayer
In the quiet, in the calm, in the stillness, we are seeking your comforting presence. In the clamor, in the cry, in the grief, we long for you, Lord. In this time, in this place, with each other, we are waiting for you earnestly. Right now, right here we worship with truth and spirit. Amen.

Opening Hymn
“Make Me a Channel of Your Peace”

Back to School Blessing
Courtney Till (online only) and Pastor Seok-Hwan
The Bible tells us that Jesus learned and studied, just as you do. And Jesus grew in wisdom. We ask God’s blessing on this new school year, that it may be a time when we appreciate and fully use God’s gift of learning. We give thanks to God for the gift of learning!

Pastoral Prayer and Lord’s Prayer
Prayer Response
“Loving Spirit”
TFWS # 2123 (2 times)
Loving Spirit, loving Spirit, you have chosen me to be,
You have drawn me to your wonders,
You have set your sign on me.

Scripture Readings

Matthew 5:9
Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God.

Luke 12: 49-53
“I came to bring fire to the earth, and how I wish it were already kindled! 50 I have a baptism with which to be baptized, and what stress I am under until it is completed! 51 Do you think that I have come to bring peace to the earth? No, I tell you, but rather division! 52 From now on five in one household will be divided, three against two and two against three; 53 they will be divided: father against son and son against father, mother against daughter and daughter against mother, mother-in-law against her daughter-in-law and daughter-in-law against mother-in-law.”

"Making Peace, an Offering of Love"

The Blessing and Sending Forth
Jesus taught us, “Blessed are the peacemakers.” May God grant you the vision, strength, and courage to proclaim God’s message of peace whether welcome or unwelcome, for the sake of God’s beloved children. May almighty God bless you, the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Amen. Christian Worship Resources for the Children’s Sabbath
