Lakeside Grounds
Gladiolus growers and exhibitors from Ohio, Michigan and Pennsylvania will participate in the Northwestern Ohio Gladiolus Show in Hoover Auditorium.
The show, which has been held at Lakeside for more than 60 years, will take place from 3-5 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 17 and 11:30 a.m.-5 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 18. The show is organized by Cliff and Doris Hartline and volunteers.
The Rev. Ed Peterson
The Rev. Ed Peterson will preach at the 10:30 a.m. Hoover Community Worship Service on Sunday, Aug. 18. His sermon, titled "The House that Built Us," is based on Mark 11:1-11.
Sunday, Aug. 18-Wednesday, Aug. 21
The theme is “Civil Dialogue in an Uncivil World.” The seminars will be led by the Rev. Dr. Greg Linville, Director of Research Development for the Association of Church Sports and Recreation Ministries and Dean of the AGON Institute of Sports Ministry. He’s a Licensed Christian Pastor in the Evangelical Friends Church.

For the first time, Lakeside’s Chautauqua Choir and attendees of the Chautauqua Choral Experience will present a special evening concert . This experience features commercial vocalist and director Ellen Winters and conductor Michael Shirtz presenting a program that reflects hope and the healing spirit that Lake Erie and the summer provides to the Lakeside community.

Lakesiders can expect to find wellness screenings, as well as information from local and regional service providers. Come learn about Lakeside’s wellness programs and activities , ask wellness-related questions and acquire tools to focus on your wellness routine.

Al Stewart rose to fame as part of the legendary British folk revival in the 1960s and 70s. Performing his own unique style of folk-rock songs, he combines his music with stories of characters and events from history.
Lakeside is partnering with Education Opportunities Tours to take you on a nine-day European adventure to see the “Oberammergau Passion Play” with fellow Lakesiders from Sept. 21-29, 2020. Visit our website for more information.

Saturday, Aug. 24
More than 85 dealers will display antiques in Wo-Ho-Mis Lodge, South Auditorium, Wesley Lodge and outdoors. Antique items for sale include china, glassware, furniture, quilts, fine and costume jewelry, ladies’ accessories, kitchen supplies, sports memorabilia, books, postcards, area souvenirs, linens, vintage clothing, dolls, sterling and more.
Saturday, Aug. 31
Following Rockapella's performance in Hoover Auditorium, fireworks will offer a spectacular finale to the holiday weekend at 9:30 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 31. A barge will be used to launch the fireworks from the north end of the dock, weather permitting. Watch for signs at the Pavilion about dock closure for the day.
