You're Invited to Our

COMMUNITY POTLUCK ON

NATIVE AMERICAN HERITAGE DAY

Friday, November 29th, 2024

11:00 to 1:30pm

Come give thanks to our Natives and join us to meet Joe Salinas, spiritual and cultural leader of the Pomo Indians. Joe and his youth group will share with us about their cultural history, learned from their ancestors. His youth group will perform their dances and songs with us as well.

On a personal note, I invited Joe and his people to visit Sonoma County Wildlife Rescue on Indigenous People Day on October 14th. The first thing he said when he arrived was to thank us for our work with our native wildlife. He was amazing in how he shared his insights with me about all of the animals that we care for here as a community and what they mean to his people. His prospective as an educator was truly profound. As a professional wildlife rehabilitator and educator, I knew we needed him to help us as partners in our work with our local and native wildlife.
