Dear Neighbor,
I'd like to invite you to join Celebrate Fairfax, Inc. and I at the Mural Debut at the PARC (8508 Leesburg Pike) on Saturday, May 7th, from noon to 5pm. The afternoon will be filled with family-friendly activities such as live art demonstration, Pakos Fresh Mex food truck, Caboose Brewing, a local artisans and maker market, and so much more!
PARC stands for People, Arts, Recreation, and Community. Presented by Celebrate Fairfax, Inc. (CFI), the PARC at Tysons is a vibrant community space that hosts numerous engagement activities and events throughout the year including family activities, festivals, concerts, shop local markets, art shows, and more. As you know, CFI will be focusing more broadly on community engagement by bringing the spirit of the traditional Celebrate Fairfax! Festival to each magisterial district and the PARC at Tysons has helped successfully launch CFI’s new direction.
We are grateful that the Board unanimously awarded Economic Opportunity Reserve funding to the Tysons Partnership which included a pilot project to provide exterior improvements to activate the PARC. We are appreciative of the Tysons Partnership who successfully managed the installation of the mural which provides a vibrant event destination for our residents, workers, and visitors to come together.
The mural, called ‘Waves,’ created by Rodrigo Pradel explores energy through colors growing across the canvas. Viewers are encouraged to explore the whole area, find a spot they are interested in and focus in on the artwork, allowing themselves to visually ingest the energy with intention.
I hope you can join us in celebrating the official unveiling of the mural at the PARC, activating this space as an event destination, and its continued success in bringing the community together. We are grateful for your support.
With gratitude,
Supervisor Dalia Palchik
