Bidding A Fond Farewell to Aimee Taylor

We bid a fond farewell to Aimee Taylor, our intrepid Bull Trout Recovery Coordinator, who has moved on to a new role at WA Fish and Wildlife (WDFW).

Aimee is the new District 8 Fish Biologist and will be covering all things fish in Kittitas and Yakima counties, including continuing to work with the Bull Trout Task Force (BTTF) on bull trout spawning surveys.

Aimee began her journey with Mid-Columbia Fisheries (MCF) in 2019 as a Bull Trout Task Force crew member, then completed a Master's at Central Washington University, and then rejoined MCF as the BTTF crew lead in 2022.

Aimee quickly moved into a bigger role, supporting bull trout recovery planning in the Yakima basin in cooperation with the Yakima Basin Fish and Wildlife Recovery Board, leading the BTTF into an expanded role that includes an extensive volunteer program, improved signage and outreach, writing and receiving new grants, and collecting the data necessary to develop bull trout habitat restoration projects.

While we were sad to say goodbye, we are excited for Aimee to take on this new position. We know Aimee will continue to have a positive impact on fish recovery in our region!

We will have a couple of ways to get involved this year! Come as a participant or come out to help teach others how to fish!

2026 Outreach Crew In Retrospect

Team from left: Emily Wilburn, Cece Acosta, Max Henyan and Aimee Taylor

This month we said farewell to our Outreach Crew! All summer, Cece, Max, and Emily met community members where they recreate: at campgrounds, boat launches, and river access areas in our region, talking about bull trout, fish habitat, responsible recreation, and upcoming MCF restoration work.

The crew gave 16 presentations to 307 people and reached 548 more through rock dam removals, tabling events, and informal conversations, for an impressive season total of 855 people. That's one of MCF's largest summer outreach audiences yet.

Through rain, heat, smoke, camping, and shifting schedules, the Outreach Crew kept positive attitudes and a steady commitment to the communities they served. Their work increased awareness of salmon and bull trout and of the role we all play in protecting healthy fish habitat.

Thank you, Cece, Max, and Emily. We are grateful for everything you gave this summer and wish you all the best in what comes next!

Support Mid-Columbia Fisheries ~ Funding Cuts Threaten Our Work

State and federal funding cuts are hitting hard—reducing conservation education, volunteer engagement, and the core support that keeps Mid-Columbia Fisheries running. These cuts jeopardize our mission to restore streams, educate future stewards, and engage communities in conservation. We need your help now more than ever.

Donate today to protect the lands and waters we all depend on. Every gift makes a difference.

Mid-Columbia Fisheries Enhancement Group is dedicated to protecting and restoring wild salmonid populations, their habitats, and ecosystem functions that support native fish species through restoration, protection, education, and community involvement throughout our region.
