Hello Glastonbury!
This time of year, I am always grateful for the small (and big!) ways the library is able to support the community – not only as a great resource for information and materials (although it does a fantastic job of that, too!), but as a place; You are welcome at the library, both alone and with others.
You probably have already noticed that public libraries are one of the few places in this world outside your home that you can just “be” – you don’t have to buy anything, rent anything, or be anyone in particular to come through the doors, sit down at a table and… be. At WTML, we encourage you to sit where you feel comfortable, chatting with friends in one area or finding focus in our quiet space (another area). You can attend a program, join a group, or reserve a study room. You can meet other parents and bond over a story time song, connect with people who share an interest during a session in our 2CF MakerSpace Studio, or find community online at one of our free public computers. Children can play together using the train tables and wooden kitchens, Teens can bond during Teen Advisory Board meetings, and adults can share a musical connection during a library concert event. You can do all of those… or none of those. It’s up to you! As we look towards the new year, we will continue to welcome new programs, ideas, and people into our space, and to do our best to support patrons in a variety of ways. WTML is a place for everyone, and we’re so glad to see you here.
Happy reading,
Amy
