COLORS OF THE RAINBOW TEAM MATCH
Eight Fifth Grade Dancing Classrooms Teams To Compete May 15

About 100 fifth graders representing eight Twin Cities schools are ready to swing, tango, foxtrot, rumba, merengue, and waltz at the exciting all-school spring Colors of the Rainbow Team Match (CORTM) May 15, 2016, 3-5 pm.  You are invited and there is no admission charge!  This Star Tribune video captures the rockin' excitement of students and parents at the inaugural Colors of the Rainbow event last December.  You can see the Respect, Elegance and Teamwork in our fifth graders--they learn so much more than dance steps in Dancing Classrooms!

Professional ballroom dance judges will judge the event.  Winning teams will receive trophies, and every student will receive a medal.  In tribute to Prince, all students, parents, and audience members will be invited to dance together in the finale as one team:  The Purple Team.

Get Involved with Heart of Dance

We could not do this without the generous support of individuals and organizations in our community.  Would you like to join Heart of Dance as a classroom sponsor or donor?  Every contribution you make to Heart of Dance, a 501c3 nonprofit, helps more fifth graders experience the social and emotional learning benefits of partner dance.  You will help to transform young lives!  Donate here today!  Heart of Dance also provides speakers for your local service club or group.  Contact Ember at emberrj@heartofdancemn.org.

Do you believe in the transformative power of the arts, and of music and dance in particular? You may be our next team member! Heart of Dance is now accepting applications for Teaching Artists for the 2016-2017 school year! We encourage applications from people of color and multilingual speakers. No dance experience is necessary - we hire for personality and dedication and will train skills. Apply to be a Teaching Artist for 2016-17 here or contact Creative Director Andrea Mirenda at andream@heartofdancemn.org.

Are you interested in volunteering to support our Teaching Artists during sessions at participating schools? You don't need to be a dancer to experience the joy of working with our fifth grade students! For more information, contact our Classroom Assistant Coordinator, Dede Ouren at: dede.ouren@gmail.com.

Are you able to connect us with interested schools, teachers, donors, and volunteers? Become an Ambassador for Heart of Dance. Use your personal and professional networks to help us be more successful. Please contact Ember to share your connections!

We look forward to sharing this journey with you!
