ST VINCENT DE PAUL THANKS YOU This middle aged man was working full time when a knee injury caused him to take time off with Family Leave for several months. When he returned to work he experienced double setbacks. First, his hours were cut and secondly, he was robbed of his cash at a Metro stop. ADVENT GIVING TREE AND SOCK DRIVE St. James Cathedral’s annual holiday giving to support children, women and men in our region has begun! The Giving Tree is in the Cathedral, laden with tags for the Frederic Ozanam House, Prepares, the Tri-Parish Food Bank in Burlington, St. James Immigrant Assistance, and King County Juvenile Detention. You can also go onto the Cathedral website for the Virtual Giving Tree! All gifts can be delivered to the Parish Office or brought to the Cathedral Bookstore. All gifts need to be at the Cathedral by next Sunday, December 15 for a timely delivery to the beneficiaries. Thank you! This year’s Sock Drive continues, with a goal of collecting 2,024 pairs of men’s athletic socks.
CARE FOR CREATION ADVOCACY Recently released research has explored the health impacts of airports and their flights upon community members who breathe the air pollution and hear the noise. MINISTRY WITH HOMELESS WOMEN Our partners at Operation Nightwatch will soon be opening a desperately needed women’s shelter. There will be opportunities to volunteer by providing transportation from Nightwatch (on the corner of 14th Ave S and S Main St) to St. Mark’s Cathedral, where the shelter will be located. SEASON OF SERVICE To honor the history of the local Church, while embracing our Catholic Social teachings, the Archdiocese of Seattle will host a “Season of Service.” From March 1 to May 31, 2025, local Catholics, parishes, schools, ministries and families are invited to participate in service with the goal of reaching 175,000 collective hours of service across Western Washington. WEEKLY MENTAL HEALTH AND WELLNESS GROUPS Open to anyone who needs support, weekly groups are held every Friday of the month, 10-11:30am. The Mental Health and Wellness Ministry is offering different groups for mental health support, including art, board games, a mental health support group, mindfulness, yoga, and prayer, and a movie. NO MONTHLY FOOT CARE CLINIC IN DECEMBER Seattle and King County Public Health are offering free monthly foot clinics and blood pressure checks, on the last Wednesday of every month, 1-4pm, in the Pastoral Outreach Center, 907 Columbia St. No registration required. There will be no clinic in December. The next clinic will be on January 29, 2025.
