The decoration of Caps is not allowed for the ceremony. Students will be asked to remove decorated caps.


Candidates for Doctoral will receive a separate deadline directly from the academic dean's office.


*Purchasing regalia does not secure your participation in the ceremony. You do not have to participate in the ceremony to purchase regalia.


Candidates for degrees are responsible for purchasing their caps and gowns. Cap and gown orders must be completed by April 2 to ensure timely delivery.

Cap & Gown Website

Oak Hall regalia vendor provides an environmentally friendly cap and gown set made of recycled plastic bottles. The family-owned Virginia-based regalia company Oak Hall produces the GreenWeaver cap and gown sets. Each gown is made from approximately 23 plastic bottles and distributed to UWA from their plant in Vicksburg, Mississippi.

March 4 – Grad Fair at Student Union Building (SUB)

10:00am - 2:00pm


April 2 – Final day to order cap & gown.


April 11 - Name changes for diploma and program book. Fill out the form here.


April 19 – Final day to reserve guests tickets through the online ticketing system. A link will be sent to your email to reserve tickets two weeks prior to the date.


Now - April 29 - If you indicated you will be participating and can no longer participate, please let us know by filling out the form here.


May 10 - Final Address Changes for diploma mailing should be indicated by filling out the form here.


June 21 - Diploma Ship Date

Live diplomas will not be given at the ceremony.



*All communications about commencement will be sent to your UWA email. Please check your email frequently for communications regarding the commencement ceremony.

Ceremony Guests

Tickets will be required for the ceremony, and every person attending must have a ticket, regardless of age.


Each participating graduate will be able to request and reserve four (4) tickets. Additional tickets are not available.


You may have indicated how many tickets you need on your application for a degree. This number helps us plan for the ceremony but it does not secure your tickets. In order to receive guest tickets you must reserve them through the online system during the allotted time.


A link to reserve tickets will be sent to the participating graduates' UWA email two weeks prior to the ceremony. You will have one week to reserve your 4 guest tickets. No ticket requests will be fulfilled during the week of April 29 - May 3.
