Join us for National Social Work Month

Greetings!
This month we are holding two events that speak directly to the library's commitment to be of service to the community. The first -- being held at the Library this Saturday starting at 12 pm -- is a Community Resource Fair that connects residents with social services available right here in Hoboken. There's additional information on this below.
City Council President Emily Jabbour, herself a social worker, is leading the second event, a Social Work Panel Discussion at the Library on Thursday, March 30, at 6:30 pm. Panelists include the city's two social workers -- Bianca Hoffer and Lori Hetzel -- and the library's community service worker, Emily Dalton. They and other panelists will speak about the importance of social work in our community, what social work actually is, and how you can help support their initiatives.
These events are important to us because our responsibility -- your library's responsibility -- is to provide sustainable and impactful services, programs, and collections tailored to the needs of our city. I hope you'll attend these events; this is vital information for everyone.
Regards,
Jennie Pu
Library Director

The City of Brass
by S.A. Chakraborty
|
"Step into The City of Brass, a magical Middle Eastern kingdom that rests in the hands of a clever and defiant young woman with miraculous healing gifts. Nahri has never believed in magic. Certainly, she has power; on the streets of eighteenth-century Cairo, she's a con woman of unsurpassed talent. But she knows better than anyone that the trade she uses to get by -- palm readings, healings -- are all tricks, sleights of hand, learned skills; a means to the delightful end of swindling Ottoman nobles and a reliable way to survive. But when Nahri accidentally summons an equally sly, darkly mysterious djinn warrior to her side during one of her cons, she's forced to question all she believes.
