Becoming Beloved Community - Sacred Ground

Church of the Holy Comforter | Vienna, VA

Join us on Sacred Ground

Register by September 9!

Sacred Ground is a film-based dialogue program on race and faith that meets on Zoom every other Monday from September through January. We discuss learnings from films, podcasts, articles, and books that we access from home. In a safe place—on sacred ground—we share our stories.

To date, over 20,000 people have participated in this program, including over 50 people at Holy Comforter. Our sessions have included participants from as far away as Austin, Texas. Prayer, God’s grace, and the Holy Spirit help us as we learn and grow and work towards the dream of becoming a beloved community.

Registration for the 2022–23 program is now open. The first session is September 12.

The readings were very thought-provoking and gave me a chance to chew on things in a new way and especially from a different point of view. Putting all this material and content together and calling it “Sacred Ground” gave it a special meaning. It makes it very compelling and is certainly building on a spiritual foundation. Also the discussion groups helped to hold us accountable!

I enjoyed this program immensely and feel I really benefitted from it... I am looking forward to better awareness and obvious opportunities in my everyday life to put into practice some of the things I learned during Sacred Ground.

I am glad I participated. "I didn't know what I didn't know."

Each session [of Sacred Ground] shed new light on how much I really didn’t know about “the house we live in.” …We told our stories on sacred ground, and most importantly, we listened to each other… We were inspired to do something, to reach out in love and, by God’s Grace, to begin to heal the body of Christ in our time. …I hope and pray that this course will continue to open doors and hearts to the Beloved Community at Holy Comforter and the Body of Christ throughout the world!
