The Third Sunday of Easter

Third Sunday of Easter - The Episcopal Church

Now on that same day two of them were going to a village called Emmaus, about seven miles from Jerusalem, and talking with each other about all these things that had happened. While they were talking and discussing, Jesus himself came near and went with them, but their eyes were kept from recognizing him. And he said to them, “What are you discussing with each other while you walk along?” They stood still, looking sad. Then one of them, whose name was Cleopas, answered him, “Are you the only stranger in Jerusalem who does not know the things that have taken place there in these days?”

Written by York & Elizabeth Wong

Father,

Graced by the love and sacrifice of Thy one and only Son, for the sake of our salvation, the indwelling of Thy Spirit, and the gift of life eternal, brings penitence and humility to one’s heart for the crucifixion of Christ, our Savior.  Let not this conviction be shaken nor swayed as we aspire to keep on the path of righteousness, but enable this sentiment to help us rise above the noise and confusion led by the iniquities before us.

Grant that we may shine forth Thy Holy light with hope as our resilience,

faith as our shield, and love as our calling

as we endeavor to follow the steps of Jesus Christ, our Lord, Who lives and reigns with You, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever.

Amen.

A “REASON” TO CELEBRATE:

OUR SPRING FUNDRAISING EVENT AT CANARD VINEYARD

Carolyn and Rich Czapleski, owners of Canard Vineyard, have generously offered to host a tour of their historic property and a tasting of their fine wines as an exclusive event benefiting the Sharpsteen Museum. Their property, at the corner of Dunaweal Lane and Silverado Trail, was settled by Donner Party rescuer and Calistoga pioneer Reason P. Tucker. The timing of this event will coincide with the Museum’s next special exhibit about Tucker and his legacy. Save Saturday May 13 for the opportunity to tour the Czapleski’s gardens in their spring glory, and sample wines from Canard’s heritage vines, some of which were planted by Tucker in the 19th century. Visitors will be greeted by resident pigs Peaches and Wilbur, and Buddy the dog.

Carolyn is a Master Gardener, and her garden has been featured on many Napa County garden tours. Canard’s award-winning red wines are served at some of the country’s most prestigious restaurants.

Saturday, May 13, 1pm – 4pm:

Two types of tickets are available.

Garden tour and Canard Vineyard wine tasting paired with charcuterie: $75

Garden tour only: $40

All ticket sales directly benefit the Sharpsteen Museum. Our sincere thanks to Carolyn & Rich Czapleski of Canard Vineyard for their extraordinary support.

To purchase tickets: call Patricia Larsen,

707-341-3313. Tickets may also be purchased on the day of the event, Canard Vineyard, 1016 Dunaweal Lane, Calistoga.

Notes: Must be 21 for wine tasting. Garden tour is self-guided.

Don’t miss this very special way to celebrate Mother’s Day weekend!

OUR HISTORY

In April of 2022, St. Luke's Episcopal Church celebrated the 75th anniversary of the building of the church. But the congregation is much older than that, having first gathered in June 1917 for an Episcopal service in Calistoga.
