There are times when faith becomes clear and personal—moments when we say “yes” to Christ in a way that changes the direction of our lives. But the Christian life is also a long path of growth, repentance, trust, and obedience. It is less like checking a single box and more like an arrow moving forward, with important moments along the way.
Along that arrow there are many moments—some small, some very big.
For many of our students, Confirmation Sunday will be one of those moments. They will publicly profess the faith of the church and their intention to follow Jesus Christ as Lord. It is not the finish line of their faith, but a meaningful step along the path of discipleship.
We pray that this will be a moment when their faith becomes more personal and more intentional.
This Sunday will also be a moment for our Honduras Mission Team. Stepping out of the familiar and serving in another culture often becomes one of those defining experiences in the Christian life. When we place ourselves in situations where we must depend on God and serve others in Christ’s name, something deep in our hearts can change.
We will commission them during worship and pray for them as they prepare to go.
And as Spring VBS begins, we are reminded that God is already at work in the hearts of our youngest disciples as well. Seeds of faith planted now often grow into the moments of commitment and calling that come later.
All of this reminds us of a simple truth from the story of David:
God is always working in the heart.
Sometimes quietly.
Sometimes through unexpected experiences.
Sometimes through powerful moments we never forget.
This Sunday we will celebrate several of those moments together—and we will pray that God continues shaping hearts in every generation of our church.
Grace and Peace,
Tom
