NAMI Family Support Group is a peer-led support group for any adult with a loved one who has experienced symptoms of a mental health condition. Gain insight from the challenges and successes of others facing similar experiences.
NAMI’s support groups are unique because they follow a structured model, ensuring everyone has an opportunity to be heard and to get what they need. Review our Support Group Guidelines and Principles of Support.

- Designed for adult loved ones of people with mental health conditions
- Led by family members of people with mental health conditions
- 60-90 minutes long and meets monthly

Crisis Recovery Center now open! If your loved one needs to recover from a crisis before returning home from the emergency room, the PHF, or a hospital, ask to have them medically cleared to rest and recover in the CRC, where a psychiatrist, nursing and mental health staff will help them stabilize and work on next steps.

CARE Act. If your loved one with psychosis is resisting treatment, you may file a petition to get their case considered by the CARE Court. Help get them into treatment before tragedy, before homelessness, before arrest. For more information, click here. If you need help after sifting through the information there, contact us.

Peer Support Specialist Training and Certification

Housing
Upon being discharged from a facility, it's important that the discharging social worker connects to the intake coordinator at the Department of Behavioral Health.
If you are a conservator or advocate for such a person, or you are that person needing discharge coordination, here are a few housing options you should follow up on.

Contact the Dept of Behavioral Health ACCESS line 1-800-929-1955 to find out if you qualify for Transitional Housing or a bed in a Board and Care.

If being discharged from jail and will be on probation, ask your probation officer about housing. Their number is 530-621-5625

If you just need housing assistance, contact the Tahoe Coalition, which provides services throughout El Dorado County. Their phone number is (530) 600-2822.
