State Chamber Update

The State Chamber's leadership series is my personal favorite, recurring event. I find it very interesting to learn about how our featured speaker got to where they are, the challenges or serendipitous events that took them to one career place or another, and lessons learned along the way.

Tony Allen grew up in New Castle and, therefore, as a proud New Castilian myself, I have a soft spot for anyone from the greater 19720!

As a William Penn High School alum, recent chair of President Biden’s Inaugural Committee, and member of our board of directors, Delaware State University's President Tony Allen will have much to share. We hope to see you for an interesting hour this Wednesday!

Durable goods orders and core capital orders data for March was released this morning. The all-important Case-Schiller home price index for February is out tomorrow, as is information about U.S. homeownership rates for the first quarter of this year. On Wednesday, Fed Chairman Jerome Powell hosts a press conference and it's likely that interest rates and inflation may be among the covered topics. Thursday brings us jobless claims figures for the early part of April and Q1 GDP. We wrap up the week on Friday with consumer spending and core inflation results from March. This is also a busy week for corporate earnings reports, so keep watch for those announcements too.
