Boston Breastfeeding Coalition Newsletter

The Boston Breastfeeding Coalition is committed to improving access to breastfeeding support for every parent in Boston, promoting connections between individuals and organizations that engage in breastfeeding advocacy, and supporting pathways for professional lactation counselors.

For our July Coalition Meeting, Overcome and Achieve: A Conversation with Trailblazers, we are honored to have our breastfeeding partners form Western Massachusetts join us for a discussion about building equity in the lactation professional field. During the conversation, two IBCLCs of color based in Western Massachusetts will share their journey to obtaining the IBCLCs credential & inspire ideas for how we can translate their success to Boston.

This meeting is part of the Coalition's larger effort to support pathways and leadership for lactation professionals of color. If you are interested in joining a work group to determine how we support the professional development of lactation counselors, please email [email protected].

7/30: July Scholar Support

This month's Scholar Support Night will be on 7/30 from 6-8 at Frugal Bookstore ( NOTE : This is a change in date from previously scheduled 7/23).

Scholar Support offers an opportunity for lactation counselors to engage in education about lactation management and professional development. Light refreshments and childcare (upon request) will be provided. Please RSVP here .

Save the Date: 8/29 Chocolate Milk Screening

The Black Breastfeeding Week planning committee has been planning a powerful and creative celebration of Black Breastfeeding Week in August.

As part of our celebration, we'll be hosting a screening of the Chocolate Milk Documentary followed by discussion on how we can collectively uplift Boston's Black breastfeeding families & an exhibition of local organizations supporting breastfeeding families.

Save the date for the screening on 8/29 from 5:00 to 8:00 at the Dewitt Center (122 Dewitt Dr). Register early for the screening here!
