Thorne Race Fifteen Finale
Sunday, May 21 | West Long Branch

Don't miss the Finale Fifteen for the 4-mile Michael W. Thorne Scholarship Run this Sunday. Join us on Sunday at Franklin Lake in West Long Branch. You will be able to find parking at Shore Regional HS on Rte. 36.

This is a rare, yet popular, 4-Mile race distance, scenic course, great shirts and unique awards (M/F top 3 overall, top 3 in 5 year age groups, top 3 West Long Branch residents, top 3 firefighters), random prize drawings and every year for a good cause - to fund a scholarship in memory and honor of a young man who gave his life in the line of duty as a volunteer fireman.

For those of you who have participated in the past, we know that you have enjoyed it, please come out and make our "retirement" race the best yet. Your support will enable us to continue to give out scholarships to deserving high school seniors who have demonstrated the spirit of volunteerism in their community. . .what Michael was doing when he lost his life.

If you cannot participate, please consider donating to the scholarship fund...any amount is appreciated. If you would like additional information on sponsorship, please contact   Mindy Brady.

All good things come to an end, and thus is the case with this race - which has enjoyed 14 previous years as a successful "runner's race" local favorite.
To register, click here to download the pdf application form.

We look forward to seeing you there!

Group Runs

(Bodman & Ocean Grove) / Off and On at Bodman due to races in NY - but picking up Ocean Grove still going strong. Recently, attendance for both has been a bit light with active Sunday schedule but back to normal soon.

Bodman Park in Middletown 8:00 a.m.

Meet at Bodman Park just off Navesink River Road. Meet at the Clubhouse (Market Street, Middletown). Groups run from 6 to 22 miles mostly on trails through Hartshorne Woods Park & Huber Woods & the surrounding areas with scenic views. There are plenty of hills and it's a perfect run for marathon training. There are water stops and refreshments at the end. There is also the opportunity to walk on Sunday mornings. The distance is six miles and the start time is variable.
We need someone to be the point of contact for this long-standing group run and assist with placing & cleaning up refreshments stops. If interested, please contact the club President.

RunDay Ocean Grove 8:00 a.m.
Meet on the Boardwalk at Main and Ocean Avenues.
Contact: Tina Plantamura

Contact: Tony Bryson (contact on Facebook)

(Belmar)  This is still our largest weekday run.
Boardwalk by Taylor Pavilion (between 5th and 6th Avenues) 6:00 p.m.
We usually go 4-6 miles on the well-lit boardwalk which is a very safe place to run. Occasionally some will extend the run for 8 miles. We have a steady group comprising all paces & experience levels. All paces are welcome. Handy reminder: park on the lake side to avoid parking fees or tickets.
We usually go out to dinner afterward, so bring your appetite as well!
