While we await the finalization of the FY'20 state budget , we also are looking ahead to an important bill hearing at the State House.

On Tuesday, July 16th, the Joint Committee on Children, Families, and Persons with Disabilities will hold a hearing at the State House on a number of key bills, including three bills from our priority list :

  • An Act relative to the safety, dignity, and civil rights of persons experiencing homelessness (House Bill 150/Senate Bill 76; also known as the "Act of Living" bill, a companion to the bill of rights for people experiencing homelessness); fact sheet

The hearing is scheduled for July 16th, 10 a.m. - 1 p.m. in Hearing Room B-1 in the basement of the State House, near the Ashburton Entrance. Here are the hearing details , including a full list of bills to be heard at the hearing, and a list of committee members , including the House Chair, Representative Kay Khan, and the Senate Chair, Senator Sonia Chang-Diaz.

How you can be involved:

Please let us know if you are able to do one or more of the following:

  • Provide brief oral testimony to the committee in support of one or more of the key bills (usually no more than 2-3 minutes in length)

  • Provide written testimony to the committee in support of one or more of the key bills

  • Be in the hearing room to show solidarity
