Message from the President
A recent Brookings Institution study identified several job categories that are at “risk of automation”: Food preparation and service had a risk factor of 81%, Office administrative support clocked in at 60%, Farming/fishing and forestry at 56%, and Transportation and material moving at 55%. The researchers state that men, more than women, will be hit harder because they are more likely employed in the fields of transportation, construction, farming and production operations.

Legislative Priority
This week kicked off the first round of Joint Finance Committee Hearings. Meeting throughout February, JFC members will hear from each state government agency on what their budget needs are for the next year and what and how the programs they provide are faring. Of note this year is the Governor’s Recommended Budget setting aside 2% of revenues to be used in times of economic downturn.
