This article in the East End Beacon shares why we need to work together to ensure Greenport gets our fair share of the CPF to address issues so critical to all of us.
“Although we do not have land, we DO have direct access to the Peconic Estuary. We need to expand prevention of pollution, and other toxic issues that come with being a waterfront community”
Trustee Mary Bess Phillips
“Up to 20% of funds can be used for water quality preservation projects, including upgrading sewage treatment plants, replacing septic systems with nitrogen-removing [innovative/alternative septic] systems and drainage projects. So there’s a component now that can be used for water quality”
Assemblyman Fred Thiele
Together, let's make sure Greenport's voice is heard loud and clear. Mark your calendars and join us on July 30th at 9am!

Dear (Name of Board Member): Please give Greenport Village its fair share of community preservation funding. We’ve been paying into the fund for 26 years through a 2% tax on real estate transactions, but no money has ever been spent in the Village. You can adopt legislation that would allow the fund to be used for water quality issues and historic preservation, which would help the village with its climate resiliency goals, protecting our waterways, and with preserving our historic churches, theaters and more.
