JCA Parents,

Each month, the Joliet Catholic Academy Parent Pride Newsletter is e-mailed out to parents and JCA students, previewing important upcoming events in the JCA community. We'd like to welcome Class of 2025 parents, who have been added to our e-mail list for this month, as upcoming tryouts and events hosted this summer will be pertaining to their students.

Is there an important event or headline coming up in May that we missed? Contact us below so that we can post through social media, the JCA website, or an e-mail blast. We only post information in the Parent Pride Newsletter that is sent in before the submission deadline (the 20th of each month). Be sure to also follow www.jca-online.org, JCA Facebook, JCA Twitter, and JCA Instagram for the most up-to-date news on Joliet Catholic Academy.

Blessings,

Class of 2025 Celebration Night: Slammers Baseball Game

The JCA Admissions Staff is excited to announce that we will be holding a Joliet Catholic Academy Night on Friday, June 25 at DuPage Medical Group Field in downtown Joliet for the Joliet Slammers baseball game vs. Schaumburg at 7:05 p.m. Fireworks will follow at the conclusion of the ballgame.

All JCA families are invited to attend, but there will be a special area in left field available for incoming freshmen to mingle. Tickets are free for incoming freshman students; a group rate for all parents, families, alumni, and current students will be announced shortly.

We are currently postponing our usual Freshman Welcome Mixer/Dance, until COVID mitigations are relaxed. We may be able to hold this event in July. A finale decision will be made at a later date.
The National Art Honor Society was established in 1978 by the National Art Education Association to recognize excellence in art among talented high school students, as well as to encourage participation in art by all students.

St. Francis Academy joined in 1978 to become Chapter #34. The Chapter certification was transferred to Joliet Catholic Academy in 1990.

The purpose of this chapter is:

  • to recognize those students who have shown outstanding ability in art,
  • to foster excellence and a dedicated spirit to the pursuit of art, and
  • to increase an awareness of art in our school and community.

The following students were inducted into the National Art Honor Society on Wednesday, March 24 at 6:30 p.m. through a Teams meeting with Mrs. Stoiber, Mr. McDermott, and Dr. Budz in attendance.

Due to Covid restrictions, the students previously received a packet including the Induction Ceremony Program, their Membership Certificate, and a sketchbook/journal and pencil. The Seniors also received their Honor Cords to be worn at Graduation.

Joliet Catholic Academy's Medical Science Club, led by moderator Matt Morrissette, recently completed a community project to honor front-line workers at three local hospitals: St. Joseph's Joliet, Silver Cross in New Lenox, and Morris Hospital. Students had three banners made, thanking our local heroes. The banners were signed by JCA students and faculty, and included uplifting messages. Students also completed hundreds of thank you notes to local doctors, nurses, and hospital workers. The cards were donated by a JCA family.

JCA's Medical Science Club is led by president Emma Oswalt and vice-president's Hope Daga and Ceselie Mudron. Morrissette added, "I'm so impressed by the initiative taken by JCA students in volunteering their time to complete this project, honoring our front-line hospital workers. Students also stepped up at Jubilate, holding these signs as we gathered as a community celebrating all of our essential workers. I'd also like to give special thanks to freshman Ariana Arteaga and her family, who donated all of the thank you cards, as well as gift cards and cash to present to the area hospitals."
Future Angels and Hilltoppers,

Each summer Joliet Catholic Academy welcomes over 900 grade school students to the home of the Angels and Hilltoppers. JCA offers 20 different camps to accommodate campers' individual interests via Academic, Athletic, Activity, and Fine Art Camps. Our accomplished teachers and coaches enjoy working with campers so they can have fun, learn something new, and improve their skills. Camps are available to those of all ages, ranging from four-years-old all the way up to incoming freshmen. Some incoming freshmen camps have not been listed, and may occur in July/early August due to IHSA varsity sports seasons extending into June this summer.

Camp brochures are also mailed to area students in JCA's Admissions databased. Pre-registering online for camps is highly recommended, as some camps may be limited capacity wise due to COVID mitigations.
