Read-A-Thon Tips:
  • To help your reader get the most minutes in their day, make sure to INCLUDE the minutes they read during the school day.
  • Bring along a book or magazine any time your child has to wait, such as at a doctor's office or siblings activities. Always try to fit in reading!
  • Come enjoy Literacy Night at JES! Most activities will involve reading, so make sure to include those minutes into their day.
Backpack Drive!
Student Council just started a backpack drive at JES that will go until Wednesday, November 14th.  Student Council will be working with a club from Chanhassen High School called "Students Today Leaders Forever Club" on this project.  If your child would like to donate a new or used backpack they can place it in one of the boxes that will be located in team areas throughout the school.  Thank you!

Preparing for Winter Weather Now
Sorry to say, winter is right around the corner. And with the change in weather comes the possibility of school closures, late starts or early dismissals. In these situations, our schools use the district's automated message system to contact parents. It's important to keep your contact information on Campus Portal up to date. You can make changes, including email and phone numbers, by logging into Campus Portal and clicking Contact Preferences." Click here to learn about more ways to stay connected with the
Getting Going With Empower
Empower is an online tool used by our district to report a student's progress in learning academic standards. It allows students, parents and teachers to see what a student has learned and what is next. Empower is being used in nearly 200 classrooms across the district and at all grade levels. We've listened to parent and student feedback and have made some enhancements to Empower. Our Teaching & Learning staff recently offered two webinars for parents to learn how to log-in, view feedback, and to see how learning is reported in Empower. View a recording of the webinar HERE.
