There's Only ONE Jones!

Jones HS Community Member

After a short pause, our annual testing season gets back underway this Monday as our seniors take their Common Final Exams (CFE). Once May begins, the other grades will also resume testing as the Florida Standards Assessments continue. We also have a number of special events coming up such as Tuesday evening's Choir Spring Concert. The concert includes performances from the Concert Choir, Master Singers, and OPUS. If you have yet to hear these talented Tigers perform, please join us and bring your family and friends. This will be a wonderful evening for all!

As for this issue, I think you will enjoy reading about some of our latest Tiger happenings. You might also notice that even though we are within our annual testing season of the school year, our dedicated Jones educators continue to introduce new content every day and will do so up to year-end. Our faculty does this all along while also reviewing important material. Jones' teachers remain one of our greatest strengths so with National Teacher Appreciation Week coming up on Monday, May 2, I hope our community will remember their devotion this school year which began last August 10th (a simple card or email to a favorite teacher or staff member that week would mean a great deal). Thank you.

Enjoy your week and thank you very much for reading!

Jones in the News

Launching this summer to create new pathways to success at UCF, the program will benefit qualified students at target schools in downtown Orlando.
Excerpt from the article:
Jones High School is one of Orlando’s oldest high schools, established in the 1890s. The school operated as Orlando’s only public school for Black students for a half-century. Jones High distinguished alumni include Orange County Mayor Jerry Demings, actor Wesley Snipes, nationally recognized physicist Sylvester James Gates Jr. and former chief judge of Florida’s Ninth Judicial Circuit Belvin Perry Jr.
Earth Day '22
Earth Day is a time where we demonstrate support for environmental protection. Jones High School Community Partnership School alongside TGI (The Greatest Investment), Ford, and Permaculture life, all joined together to teach our students about the many nuances to sustaining a healthy environment. From how to graft together different plants, to knowing what cars are most environmentally friendly. Earth day was nothing less than a successful, Tigerific Friday!

He was very popular across the campus with everyone and coached both football and wrestling.
To all students and athletes:

Sponsorship is currently be evaluated to potentially provide 100 students who participate to be provided all their officiating equipment free of charge.
