Jordan Needed His Mother Clean
Jordan needed his mother clean and able to parent. With the help of her son's Dallas CASA volunteer and Legacy Family Court, she hoped to get the help she needed to be there for her son.

Volunteer Brings Perspective
Volunteer Oscar Orellana joined Dallas CASA in 2018 seeking to make a difference for youth at risk. The youth Oscar is serving is transitioning, and Oscar has been able to provide unique advocacy for this young person.

Oscar's advocacy was recently featured in the Dallas Voice.

Dallas CASA Supports Storm Victims
During Dallas’ unprecedented cold front in February, families and children served by Dallas CASA dealt with the storm’s power outages, extreme cold temperatures and water disruptions while continuing their journeys with the child welfare system. Volunteers and staff responded with resources, reassurance and help.

Crystal Charity Names
Dallas CASA 2021 Beneficiary
Dallas CASA has been named one of eight beneficiaries of the 2021 Crystal Charity Ball. The Crystal Charity Ball’s funding will allow Dallas CASA to expand services to youth ages 16 to 18 who are aging out of protective care.
“With the help of The Crystal Charity Ball, an incredible partner to Dallas nonprofits for 70 years, Dallas teens living in foster care will know they are seen, heard and valued,” said Kathleen M. LaValle, Dallas CASA president and CEO. “We want children on the brink of legal adulthood to have the best possible chance to become successful adults.”

Cherish the Children to Honor
North Texas Cares Funders Collaborative
Dallas CASA will honor the North Texas Cares Funders Collaborative with the 2021 Caroline Rose Hunt Cherish the Children Award for the group’s dedication to bettering the lives of Dallas children. The virtual Cherish the Children event, hosted by Dallas CASA Children’s Council, will be at noon Friday, May 14.

When the global pandemic began and revenue-generating events were canceled, North Texas Cares Funders Collaborative stepped in to assist across the region. The group, which brings together 40 North Texas foundations, corporations and individual funders, streamlined the grant process for nonprofits, creating a common application to simplify the process for already strained nonprofits seeking funds.

Dallas CASA Recruits Record-Breaking Number of Volunteers in 2021
Dallas CASA recruited the highest number of volunteer child advocates in the agency’s 40-year history in 2020. Dallas CASA was able to recruit, train and swear-in a record-breaking 472 new volunteer advocates. This represents more new volunteers than in any other year in the agency’s history, despite the global pandemic.

“Dallas CASA has always been special because we serve in Dallas, a city of people who care deeply for each other,” Dallas CASA President and CEO Kathleen M. LaValle said. “That citizens of Dallas would respond to a global pandemic with a surge of energy to serve the most vulnerable among us is truly a testament to our community and its priorities.”
