Effective
June 1,
we will no longer charge fines on items for children and young adults, and all existing fines will be waived. This ensures that all youth have access to library books and materials, which is our primary purpose as a public library.

Stop by
any of the four branches in Grants Pass, Illinois Valley, Williams, or Wolf Creek on
Fridays between
11 a.m. and 1 p.m. during Friday Tech Time.
Library staff and volunteers are ready to answer technology questions and assist with:
- Downloading e-books
- Email set-up
- Navigating social media accounts
- Resume formatting
- ...and more.
If possible, bring password, and login information as needed.

The library is now checking out a variety of items to give the community access to things they want and need without the burden of ownership. Items range from children's robotics kits and a sewing machine to musical instruments and a toolbox filled with miscellaneous tools.

Libraries are wonder-full!

Much like a PTA, the library foundation raises money to support special programs beyond the reach of the library’s regular budget. Examples include library card scholarships for children who live outside the library district, building improvements like the teen room update, and long-term needs like
new library facilities
.

For the last seven years, in partnership with Southern Oregon Education Service District (SOESD) and Department of Human Services, (DHS) Baby Rhyme Time has been one of the most popular storytimes at the Grants Pass branch.
Baby Rhyme Time is a weekly learning play group for children aged two and under and their parents. Over the years, hundreds of families have enjoyed meeting other new parents, learning socialization skills, and introducing their babies to the library.
A special thank you to facilitators and program creators, Kelly Carter with SOESD and Bo Jackson with DHS for their dedication to early literacy and years of service. With Bo Jackson’s recent passing, the library will continue to provide Baby Rhyme Time in her honor.

Dolly Parton's Imagination Library
|
Since launching Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library a year ago in May 2018, more than 1,500 children who live in Josephine County, aged birth to five years have received books in the mail each month at no cost to their families thanks to our sponsors. In total, almost 11,900 books have been delivered to children in our community.

Goodreads is a social networking site where people can track what they’ve read or want to read, connect with friends, and share book recommendations with readers worldwide.
With the bookshelves feature, Goodreads helps organize reading by keeping track of books the user has read, wants to read, and is currently reading.

SHHH! Secret Hush-Hush Hour
|
School-age children are invited to Secret Hush-Hush Hour (SHHH!) after school the last Thursday of each month from 4 to 5 p.m. The library will drop hints and teasers during the weeks leading up to this monthly hush-hush classified super-secret mystery program—can you guess what we’ll be doing?

Canadian poet, novelist, and environmental activist Margaret Atwood
will be the focus of the second in a series of six poetry seminars taking place every other month.
Learn about well-known poets through readings and style analysis, then write your own poem in their style with Oregon Poetry Association past-president Lisa Baldwin from

Williams Community Garden Club

A Universe of Stories,” the free Summer Reading Program at any of the four branches in Grants Pass, Illinois Valley, Williams, and Wolf Creek from
June 22 through August 3.
A current library card is not required to participate in the Summer Reading Program. All children living in Josephine County age four and older are eligible for a free library card whether or not they live within the library district boundary.
