Dear Friends of Joshua Group,

As we come across the threshold of this past year and all the changes we have been through since COVID disrupted our world, we want to thank you for being faithful supporters of Joshua Group and each and every student that comes through our doors.

For over the past 20 years, we have had the privilege of serving at-risk youth in the Allison Hill community by offering access to educational opportunities made available through our academic programs. We continue to reach students through our J Crew After-School Program, Student Scholarship Program, our Preschool and Kindergarten Programs and our Summer Learning Program. All of these are designed to expand access to educational opportunities for at-risk youth in Harrisburg and help maximize their academic potential.

One of our favorite programs each year is our Summer Learning Program. This program for 150 K-8 Harrisburg City neighborhood students is designed to stem summer learning losses, as well as offer enrichment opportunities for students in a broad range of activities. For seven weeks, our students are able to explore, excel and engage through individualized academic remediation, as well as the opportunity to discover the world around them. After the craziness of this past year, we are especially looking forward to offering students not only an intense academic course, but also fun, enriching opportunities to express their creativity, develop curiosity in music and art, and explore nature and the community.

We are excited as we begin the planning stages of our Summer Program, and are looking for creative ways to continue to manage our programs through the continued guidelines we receive.

We are also continuing to look towards the future and to the next steps of how to best support our students, families and community through this upending crisis and to be a beacon of hope for our young people that are struggling.

Now, more than ever, our community needs us. And we need you.

Thank you for your continued support and partnering with us in our continued efforts to reach our most vulnerable. Without you, none of this is possible. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you.

Joshua Group
Joshua Group has continued to stay open full-time, offering in-person programs for Pre-K to 12th grade. Each week we see students at the Joshua Learning Center for distance learning, mentoring and support.
Joshua Group Staff were able to deliver over 150 Christmas bags to our students and families’ homes over winter break.
We are so proud of our high school students. During this incredibly challenging year, 83% have a GPA over 2.0 and 20% have a GPA over 3.5.
A BIG thank you to Nancy Ortenzio for the gift of a Brand New Van for our Learning Center in order to transport our students. We have been able to transfer more students to and from Joshua Group each week.

A BIG thank you to the Central PA Food Bank for continuing to deliver healthy, nutritious meals each week for our students. Our students receive a healthy meal during every program they attend at Joshua Group.

For students currently enrolled in the Harrisburg School District, their access to learning is even at a greater disability. The School District is struggling to reach their students, and the probability of students falling even farther behind is at an all-time high.

We need your help. Would you consider a special contribution to help us continue our services to the most vulnerable in our city.

If you are able to make a donation, your support is greatly appreciated. Please visit our website at

**We are also collecting Giant Gift Cards for Easter Baskets for our Joshua families. If you are able to give, we are asking for the cards in $50 increments or less.
