The All Saints' celebrations in the early Christian community originated in the fifth century AD. Our relatives and friends, multitudes unknown, "which no one can number from all tribes and peoples and tongues," stand before the throne of all that is holy in joyful praise. These are the ones who garnered faith and led us to the light of faith, leading us to God's grace, which is amazing daily.
The ancient creeds confirmed a community of faith.
A bond between the Church on Earth and the souls of Heaven.
We, too, are members of the great cloud of witnesses who walk with God. We share in the grace of God in this life, striving to be more like Christ each day!
As these precious souls of the past, are we inspiring love for Jesus? Are we walking our pilgrim roads praising and growing in faith, hope, and love?
In a prayer by Paul VI, "Guard and gift our souls." Let us continue to be those who envision Christ more fully by the ways we live and serve and believe!
Blessings,
Pastor Jim
