IN-PERSON WORSHIP - SERVE SUNDAY

We love worshipping alongside our kids and youth! Join us in supporting those who will be serving in a variety of ways before and during our services this Sunday.

Worship services are held in our Sanctuary at 9am and 11am. You can prepare for worship by listening to the setlist on Spotify or YouTube!

ONLINE WORSHIP

You can worship with us virtually via our live-streamed service at 9am on YouTube or Facebook, or watch the service on either platform later!

SUNDAY SCHOOL

1 and 2 Year-Olds: A class is available during both services for children ages 1 and 2. Upon drop-off, parents/guardians and children receive wristbands with matching numbers. Parents supply their wristband to pick up their child at the conclusion of the service.

Preschool: A class is available during both services for age 3 through Pre-K. Upon drop-off, parents/guardians and children receive wristbands with matching numbers. Parents supply their wristband to pick up their child at the conclusion of the service.

Kindergarten-Grade 5: There will be no Kids Sunday School today or through the month of August. Classes will resume in September! Red activity bags will be available in the lobby.

Grades 6-12: Youth will begin in the sanctuary for worship with their parent/guardian and will be dismissed to the Large Youth Room after the Congregational Prayer. This will be the last week of Youth Sunday School until September.

POST-SECONDARY

SCHOLARSHIP FUND

Education offers opportunity and equity, and it is as important as ever in helping students not only survive but thrive. Some students, however, hit roadblocks to affordable education. HBIC has set up a scholarship fund to help students cover a small portion of their college costs like textbook or lab fees. If you're interested in an application, contact Pastor Brie.

AUGUST SABBATH

Each year we take a break in August from some things like regular meetings, rehearsals, Sunday School, the Sunday morning coffee station, etc. This gives our staff and many of our volunteers time for rest and refreshment, as well as some time for planning as we gear up for a new school year. As always, pastoral staff will be available for you throughout the month unless a particular staff member is on vacation (which will be communicated in this weekly email)!

VBS OFFERING

Each year our Vacation Bible School kids have an exciting offering project, and this year's VBS offering project is BIC World Missions Global Compassion Fund, providing aid for Malawi BIC families affected by Cyclone Freddy. Our VBS children and families, as well as our church family, are invited to give toward this significant need for our brothers and sisters in Malawi.

Bishop Francis Kamoto of BIC Malawi writes, “Since the families lost everything including their farmlands, food insecurity is the main immediate evil they have to deal with. Continued food support will enable them to focus on recovery activities and have time to prepare their gardens for the next growing season.”

Contributions toward the VBS offering project can be given in person at our worship services, by mailing a check to the church, or through our online giving portal anytime from now through the end of July.

During 2023, the HBIC Missions Ministry Team is highlighting a different Missionary of the Month, helping the congregation to know more about their work and inviting special prayer for them throughout the month.

For the month of July, please join in praying especially for Chris & Marlys Book as they serve in Macha, Zambia.

Chris serves at Macha Research Trust (MRT), where research is concurrently conducted on Malaria, Influenza, AIDS, and COVID-19. Later this year, Chris anticipates serving in the Registrar's office for Malaria Research Trust University, a new educational endeavor of MRT.

In addition to his MRT work, Chris serves on the board of the US-based non-profit, Project 1151, which raises support for three Macha organizations: Macha Research Trust, Macha Sport & Learning Project (developed by HBIC's Eric and Corie Thuma and others), and Macha International Christian School.

Marlys serves in Macha Hospital’s Anti-Retroviral Therapy (ART) clinic where she uses her organizational skills to assist with keeping the files straight for the 11,000+ registered HIV/AIDS patients who receive treatment at the hospital and outlying clinics. She also devotes time to children and women in their community and to the Macha Mission BIC Church, where she serves in leadership on the Church Board and chairs the Children's Committee.

Click here to access the Missionary of the Month page with a number of specific prayer requests for Chris and Marlys, along with their contact info to send a note of encouragement.

(Touch base with Pastor Lynda or others on the Missions Ministry Team if you'd like to know more about any of the missionaries sent out from HBIC.)

DISCIPLESHIP WEEKLY PODCAST

Did you know we have an HBIC podcast? Pastor Ryan releases weekly interviews with different members of our church family, including highlights of personal stories and discipleship practices! We hope that the stories shared will be an inspiration and will encourage you to reach out to the Discipleship Team and explore different opportunities for growth in Christ. Click here for links to listen and check back each Friday morning for new episodes.

GROCERY GIFT CARDS

You can purchase gift cards for Giant, Weis and Karns through HBIC and we get 5% of the value of the card! We will have a table available in the lobby on the 2nd and 4th Sundays in between services for card purchases. You can also contact the church office or Pastor Lynda to order and we will arrange a pick-up time with you!

ROXBURY HOLINESS CAMP

Camp meeting is an annual opportunity for BIC family members from many states and countries to come and worship together and enjoy Roxbury's campground! This year's gathering will be August 4-13 and includes morning services, afternoon activities, evening services, meals, and more! For more information about lodging, schedules, and speakers, visit the Roxbury website.

Roxbury relies on volunteers to serve each of the meals. HBIC's day to serve is Thursday, but you can help on any of the days for any meals. Click here to sign up!
