REACHING ACROSS THE
RACIAL DIVIDE
On Wednesday, October 5, at 7pm, we will enjoy a special presentation by Betty Kilby Baldwin and Phoebe Kilby, who will share their inspiring story of discovering family connections through slavery and embarking on a path toward reconciliation and reparation. We will learn about ways that we too can reach across the racial divide! There will be no adult study or prayer meeting so all can join in this important gathering.

CHILD DEDICATION
Child/parent dedication is an opportunity for parents to commit, in front of our church family, to do their best to raise their children to love and serve Jesus! The church also commits to supporting families as they grow in Christ together. If you're interested in dedicating a child or children in one of the services on Sunday, October 23, please sign up to do so. You'll need to attend a dedication class at 9am on October 16 if you haven't yet done so. You can sign up here or at the info desks in the sanctuary. Contact Pastor Patty with questions!

HOW DO I GET TO KNOW OUR MISSIONARIES?
We can pray for missions in general but, just as it feels more meaningful to pray for our friends' specific needs, getting to know our missionaries helps us to be more bonded with them, and we can pray for their specific challenges and blessings, too!
Here are a few thoughts:
- choose missionaries to pray for (you could choose those you know or do not know, or are serving in particular place and culture that interests you)
- learn where in the world they live, what type of ministry they are involved in, who are the people they share Christ with (culture, religion, worldview)
- get their prayer emails...and/or email them to tell them you are praying for them. You might pray for physical, spiritual, emotional, relational, financial needs.
Find joy in connecting with missionaries. Consider the privilege of being involved in the commission Christ gave to "go and make disciples of all nations…” One of the ways you can do this is by praying for those with whom God has sent out from us to share the Gospel!
Touch base with Pastor Lynda or any on the Missions Ministry Team if you'd like to know more about the missionaries sent out from HBIC!

FLOODING VICTIMS
GIVING OPPORTUNITY
With recent flooding in Pakistan and devastating rains in Odisha, India, we want to highlight the BIC Global Compassion Fund. This fund was created to work hand in hand with BIC churches internationally to meet restorative needs together. Both Pakistan and India have requested help from the Global Compassion Fund to aid BIC leaders in both countries to assist those affected by the floods, and we want to invite you to consider giving generously to this fund as you feel called. To donate, visit our church's giving page here, and select BIC Global Compassion Fund, or be sure to mark your check or offering envelope. All funds donated will be forwarded to BIC World Missions.
