Joy-Filled News for the Week of Feb. 10, 2019
Our Mission Statement

We of Joy Lutheran Church foster
grace-filled relationships with Christ
through worship, fellowship, and service.

The fifth Sunday after Epiphany continues to highlight unlikely instruments and circumstances appointed to reveal the glory of the Lord. “Who will go for us?” queries the voice of the Lord. A man of unclean lips, a former persecutor of the church of God, and three fishermen who couldn’t catch a thing. More surprising still, perhaps, is the fact that we are also called.

Installation of New Church Council
The installation of the new church council will be this Sunday, February 10, during worship.

We welcome our new church council members: Scooter Bentson, Debbie Bird, Tom Bird, Richard Dana, Clarke Hemphill, Ami Soellers, and Sue Weimer. Treasurer is Steve Kruse. Immediately following worship, there will be a very quick council meeting to elect officers and set a meeting schedule.

Scout Sunday & Potluck - February 17
Our own Boy Scout Troop 219 will be joining us for worship next Sunday for “Scout Sunday.” Joy Lutheran Church is the charter organization for Troop 219. It’s a day we get to recognize troop members and leaders, and enjoy a meal with them. Please bring a dish to share next Sunday as we get acquainted with the fine young people and their families who call Joy Lutheran their troop home.

New to Joy? Want to Know More?
If you would like to learn more about Joy Lutheran and how to be a part of our faith community, please sign up on the bulletin board in the narthex (lobby).
In the next few weeks, Pastor Martin will hold a special “Living in Joy” event for anyone who would like to know a little more about Jesus, the Christian faith, the Lutheran expression of that faith, and life and ministry here at Joy.  Those who want to become members and join are especially encouraged to attend this event.
The “Living in Joy” event will be held on a Sunday after worship, with a lunch and a time for conversation. The date will depend on everyone’s availability.
