News & Updates | December 2024

Dear Friends,

This Advent season, we are awaiting the birth of a very special baby.

No, not Jesus. My first grandchild. And I am as giddy as a child waiting for Christmas morning. I wonder many things... Boy or girl? Tall or short? Blond or brunette? Sporty, creative, intellectual, or all of the above? Honestly, it doesn’t matter, but I can’t wait to find out! I can’t wait to welcome and get to know this new little person, not yet arrived but already carrying a piece of my heart.

I sit with and savor this feeling, this heart connection, this joy. I want to hold onto it. Experience has shown me that life has its ups and downs. I will not always be happy or have everything I want. But this Christmas as we prepare to welcome Jesus into the world again, I pray for joy at the center of my relationship with Him. Joy in knowing, loving and serving. Joy that flows from a heart connection.

Wishing you joy this Christmas season and throughout the coming year,

Jennifer Hansen, Ignatian Maine Leadership Team

Somebody once said that “every birth is God’s vote of confidence in the human race.” These days let us reflect on the signs of hope in our lives and the life of the world.
