Domains of Wellness- Emotional

Maintaining an optimal level of wellness is crucial to quality of life. At Joyful Journey, six Domains of Wellness guide the development of programs and activities, ensuring each Friend’s unique needs and strengths are supported. This month, we’re focusing on what it means to have emotional health—and why it matters so much.

We define the Emotional Domain as reminiscing about personal histories and experiences to access emotions and memories. Emotional wellbeing opportunities can also promote optimism, self-esteem/confidence, and self-acceptance.

At Joyful Journey, we intentionally create moments that encourage laughter, reflection, friendship, and self-expression because emotional wellbeing is not only about managing difficult emotions—it is also about celebrating life's meaningful moments and maintaining a positive outlook. By nurturing emotional health, Friends are better equipped to engage in daily activities, build relationships, and enjoy an enhanced quality of life.

Pictured: Every birthday at Joyful Journey is a special moment to celebrate with cake and singing! We also craft a birthday packet for each Friend that highlights all things related to their specific birthday- birthstone, birth flower, the price of bread, cars and houses for that birth year, the fashion, and so much more!
