HIGHLIGHTED EVENTS
RIO LINDA UNITY IN THE COMMUNITY
Triple digits hit again as SAL and the Sheriff's Office took to Rio Linda for the third Unity in the Community (UIC) on July 24th. Luckily, SAL members were present and busy scooping out snow cones to help keep all attendees cool. Once again, the community members of Sacramento County showed up big for an afternoon of free food, giveaways and conversations with Sheriff's Office personnel. SAL would like to thank Walmart for their continued support and assembly of all the bikes at this month's UIC event! Be sure to join SAL at the final summer UIC of 2022 out at Rutter Park on Sunday, August 14th. Contact Deputy Wojnar at mwojnar@sacsheriff.com
INVICTUS YOUTH FOUNDATION SOCCER CAMP
July 19th & 20th at
Bartholomew Sports Complex
SAL was a proud sponsor of the Invictus Youth Foundation Soccer Camp which was held at the Bartholomew Sports Complex in Elk Grove. SAL deputies, interns, Sheriff's Office personnel, local School Resource Officers, SPD and EGPD officers all joined together to make this two day soccer camp a huge success. SAL would like to thank the Sheriff's Toy Project for their generous donations of toys and Little Caesars for their donation of free pizza and breadstick poker chips. The youth at the camp not only improved their soccer skills but also learned the three C's of the Invictus Foundation: Character, Choices and Champions. SAL Deputy Walls ensured every camper left with a voucher for two free tickets to watch the Sacramento Republic FC soccer team live in action this season!
COMMUNITY EVENTS
UC Davis M.I.N.D. Institute
SAL Sergeant Sam Flores, SAL deputies, UC Davis Police and SPD officers visited the UC Davis M.I.N.D. (Medical Investigation of Neurodevelopmental Disorders) Institute two Wednesdays in July to provide the patients and their parents a morning of outside fun and discovery. The children, parents and even medical staff enjoyed interacting with the Sheriff's YSU vehicles, SPD Mounted Unit and Sacramento Fire Department.
Sacramento Youth Advocates Fellowship
SAL deputies, along with SPD officers, offered the Sacramento Youth Advocates Fellowship Program, directed by Tak Allen, a two-day interactive seminar held at Sacramento State University and the Sacramento Regional Public Safety Center. Youth ages 8-13 years old learned about the qualifications to become a law enforcement officer, tobacco abatement, specialty law enforcement units and community outreach. SAL deputies helped the participants get ready for the new school year by providing everyone with a new backpack filled with supplies!
Birthday Party Parade
SAL deputies and EGPD officers surprised five year old Jayden by bringing all the cool cars to his birthday party. However, it was the SAL deputies who were in for a big surprise when Jayden showed them his law enforcement agency patch collection- Jayden has hundreds from all over the nation! SAL Sgt. Flores made sure Jayden added a SAL patch to his collection. Everyone had a great visit and Jayden even showed off some of his handcuffing skills!
AMERICAN RIVER COLLEGE FOOTBALL
SAL was a proud sponsor of the American River College Football Program Golf Tournament held on July 29th. Go Beavers!
SAL deputies barbequed food, posed for photos and provided golfers with more information about the Sheriff's Activities League!
