July is here, and the Limoneira summer fun has only just begun! This month we have so much to share with you: fun sustainability facts about Limoneira, a yummy lemonade recipe you can wow your guests with at your 4th of July barbeque, a look at Limoneira's homey past, and so much more!

ESG Sustainability Efforts |
|
A strategic objective and priority for Limoneira are our ESG sustainability efforts. We are pioneers, innovators, and forward-thinking while always being mindful to protect our past and present. We strive to lead by example with a very thoughtful and transparent ESG program.
Four themes identify our approach: Expand, Invest, Evolve, and Focus. Expand focuses on “expanding” current environmental opportunities, including our relationship with Agromin, biodiversity, and regenerative agricultural opportunities that enhance the health of the soil and crops. Invest focuses on “investing” in resources, efficiency, and technology. Evolve focuses on “evolving” corporate and board governance. Focus concentrates on the social pillar of our people, culture, community diversity, equity, and inclusion. Included in each of the categories is an element of education.
Speaking of education, we are very proud to announce that the Limoneira Employee Scholarship Fund recently awarded 34 scholarships to employees and dependents of employees. Scholarships are more than just financial awards. They are a key that unlocks the future by building confidence and removing obstacles for many recipients who are first-generation college students.

Let's talk about regenerative agriculture! It's quickly becoming popular in the industry and involves tried and true Limoneira practices! Regenerative agriculture is the practice of farming in a way that restores the health of the soil to provide a host of natural services. It creates a more self-sufficient ecosystem that is less dependent on human intervention. Regenerative agriculture also has the benefit of improving the nutrient characteristics of the crop. While this departure from conventional agriculture is new to Western Civilization, many of its practices were first pioneered by native populations around the world. Transitioning from conventional to regenerative agriculture can be tricky. Limoneira is well-versed in a number of regenerative practices, including mulching, cover cropping, algae injections, and reduced tillage. We continue to develop these practices as we strive to become more sustainable while providing the most nutritious, highest-quality produce!

Get ready to savor the taste of summer with Limoneira and Rincon Brewery's collaboration beer, Coastal®! We teamed up with Rincon to bring you a delicious sea salt and citrus lager. This lager features the zest from fresh Limoneira® lemons and the zest and juice from Limoneira® limes straight from the Ranch. The label features a vintage design reminiscent of Limoneira packaging crate labels from back in the day. This is our third collaboration with Rincon and they just keep getting better and better! There's no place like a Limoneira home! In 1922, the Ranch was building its sleeping quarters for its workers. Here at Limoneira, we have always valued caring for our team members. Our commitment to our workers started with buildings like this and has since grown to 242 homes for our workers and their families!

Take me home, Limoneira Roads! The bunkhouse is one of the buildings our team members called home in the days of Limoneira past. Designed and built between 1923 and 1924, the Limoneira bunkhouses were designed by a local Santa Paula architect, Roy C. Wilson, and his associate Edwin Thorne of Pasadena. They have a distinctive English Tudor and Craftsman Design, which makes them architecturally significant. We love these everyday reminders of Limoneira history!

One of the most classic 4 th of July drinks is lemonade! While lemonade is very much a part of not just the 4 th of July celebrations but American pop culture, its origin traces back to Egypt! Historians believe that in 700 A.D., lemons were brought from Asia to Egypt. Around that time, Qatarmizat, a lemon-based drink sweetened with sugar and dates, became popular. This 4 th of July, when you take a sip of your delicious Limoneira lemonade, know that you are continuing a tradition of thousands of years!
