Documenting the process

Grade 6 students from
Light of Christ Schoo
l created a magical snow effect on the stage of the Jubilee Auditorium. Using the
Alberta Ballet's
snow effect from
Nutcracker
for inspiration, students
collaborated and designed the snowbag.
Students captured the process and execution of how to make a snowbag through a journalling strategy called EVENT MAPPING.
Event mapping allows a story to be told through pictures, numbers and a few words. Students are able to record a process by breaking it down step by step.
Once the students were back at school they reflected on their week at
Jube School
using event mapping to tell the story of their adventures.
"I knew that my students would be positively impacted but I never imagined the impact it would have on me as a professional.

Jube School
starts with teachers who dream big. All of those ideas that don't quite fit in their classroom, but that they want their students to experience, happen every day at
Jube School.
I love how the learning sneaks up on the students - they get to jump in to a jam-packed week of immersive activities, and once their curiosity is piqued like that, they carry it with them back to school, and out into the world."

NEW! Jube Tech: Like a Girl
Empowering. Mentoring. Creating Pathways.
|
This March, the Jubilee is proud to pilot our
Jube Tech: Like A Girl
program for students in grades 9 - 12. Students will work alongside industry experts from the Jubilee, IATSE local 212 and the community as they learn about lighting, audio and stagecraft. In June, the students will run a show while being shadowed by their mentors.
In the fall of 2020, a year long
Tech Like A Girl
Program will be launched. Students will have the opportunity to explore projection creation, stage management, lighting, audio and stagecraft while earning a Level 1 certificate in these departments.
