NEW ORLEANS, LA (Monday, July 25, 2022) - 1st City Court Judge, Marissa Hutabarat has announced her candidacy for Orleans Parish Civil District Court, Division "B". The seat was formerly held by Judge Rachael Johnson who was elected without opposition to the Louisiana Fourth Circuit Court of Appeal.
My unwavering dedication to work tirelessly to efficiently serve the community I love along with my aspiration to continue to grow to serve to the best of my ability has propelled my decision to run for Judge in Civil District Court, Parish of Orleans, Division “B.”

Marissa Hutabarat is a graduate of Loyola University New Orleans College of Law. After graduating from law school, she began clerking for the Honorable Roland L. Belsome and the Honorable Edwin A. Lombard of the Louisiana Fourth Circuit Court of Appeal. Hutabarat also served as a judicial law clerk for the Honorable Monique E. Barial in Orleans Parish Civil District Court.
Prior to being elected, Hutabarat was a civil trial and class action attorney with Glago Williams, LLC. She specialized in civil litigation cases including automobile accidents, medical malpractice, and insurance disputes.
Hutabarat serves on the Council on Alcohol and Drug Abuse for Greater New Orleans (CADA), whose mission is to empower the community to build a safe and healthy future through prevention, treatment, and recovery support services that foster resilience and well-being She is also an active member of the Orchid Society, a young professional network of women serving as positive role models for young minority girls in the New Orleans metropolitan area through mentoring, community service, and social awareness programming. Before taking the bench, Hutabarat did pro bono work for The First 72+, an organization which envisions a stop to the cycle of incarceration by utilizing education, secure housing, stabilizing employment, healthcare, and community engagement to foster self-sustainability and independence.
