2022 Pacific International Round Up
What an amazing weekend we had in Steveston at the 2022 Pacific International Judo Tournament! There were 9 kata teams, 952 matches, 850 won by ippon and 78 that went to golden score! To make all of this happen we had approximately 45 officials, 40 minor officials (scorekeepers/timekeepers/draw sheets), over 100 volunteers helping with everything from hospitality, weigh in to set up and clean up, and finally a great group of key volunteers from Steveston Judo Club coordinating it all. A big THANK YOU to all of these wonderful people who make events like this possible!

We look forward to seeing you all again next year at the only National level tournament held in BC on an annual basis.

"I just wanted to extend a huge THANK YOU to all of you amazing Sensei’s for helping make the Okanagan Open such a huge grassroots happy awesome event! We really made a lot of kids smile that day, and hopefully all of them will forever remember their 1st judo competitive experience as a positive happy one and become lifelong judoka! This is what we strive for, and we couldn’t have done it without you guys and you all make such a massive impact and memory for these kids… Thank you again from the bottom of our hearts, Jita Kyoei, and here is the video…"

A special thanks to Judo BC's first volunteer Competitive Kata Coordinator, John Morris, for organizing this event on short notice. We look forward to more competitive kata events in the years ahead.
