2022-23 Award Recipients Update - New Recipients Added!

In addition to all the volunteers, coaches, athletes and clubs announced in the previous newsletter, Judo BC is pleased to be presenting special recognition awards to the following 10 young judoka that participated in the very first Kodomo no Kata Demonstrations, Clinics and/or Tournaments that took place in 2022-23.

Join Judo BC to celebrate these youth kata trail blazers and all the 2022-23 award recipients. on Saturday, September 30. The celebration will start at 8 pm and is being held at WL Seaton Secondary School, same venue as the Fall Inter-Provincial Traing Camp taking place the same weekend in Vernon.


Prizes will be awards for the best dressed - classiest, craziest, best overall and there will be door prize tickets to purchase! Any profits from this event will go towards support Team BC activities.


Pre registration is required for both award receipents, family, friends, Judo BC Board and Staff and all other guests to ensure we have enough food at this celebration. No donations are expected from the award recipients. The registration deadline is September 22nd.

Calling all yudansha (black belt) members. It's time to register for the Judo BC Annual General Meeting (AGM) taking place virtually on Saturday, December 9th at 4 pm. Not available to attend? 2023 AGM

Judo BC Constitution & Bylaws

The Judo BC Constitution & Bylaws are set by the Judo BC Board of Directors, in alignment with the BC Societies Act and following sport best practices. These bylaws are approved by the voting members of Judo BC. If there is something you would like to see changed or amended in the Judo BC Bylaws now is the time to submit a resolution for consideration at the 2023 AGM. Resolution forms can be downloaded from the AGM Registration page. Please note the Judo BC Policies and Procedures are seperate from the Bylaws and are approved by the Judo BC Board of Directors.

Board of Directors Elections

At this years AGM the following 3 postitions will be up for election:

  • President
  • Treasurer
  • Director at Large

All Judo BC yudansha members 18 year old and older are eligible for these positions. If you are interested in learning more please contact the Judo BC President , Donna Hanson, by sending an email to president@judobc.ca. The deadline to submit your signed nomiation forms is November 8th. The forms can be downloaded from the AGM Registration page.

Did you know you can earn elective credits towards high school graduation by successfully reaching a standard of sport excellence as a judo athlete, coach or official?


The BC Ministry of Education and Child Care partners with both the Sport Branch of the BC Ministry of Tourism, Arts, Culture, and Sport and viaSport BC to manage the External Sport Credentials Program (ESCP). Students can get graduation credits by completing approved Athlete, Coach, or Official programs.


Here are the list of credits available to Judo BC members:


Athlete Level 1 UXSA 10 (4 credits)

BC Winter Games Team


Athlete Level 2 UXSA 11 (4 credits) - NEW

Provincial Team Program Member participating at the National Championships


Athlete Level 3 UXSA 12 (4 credits) - UPDATED

U16 or U18 Provincial Team Program Member at Provincial A level or higher


Official Level 1 UXSO 10 (2 credits) - NEW

Provincial D Certificate

Provincial C Certificate


Official Level 2 UXSO 11 (4 credits) - NEW
