The scripted series "Julia" from HBO Max has released its first episodes on the streaming platform with new episodes released every Thursday.
The series is inspired by Julia Child’s extraordinary life and long-running television series at WGBH Boston, "The French Chef", which pioneered the modern cooking show.
Production for the 7-episode series was based in Boston with stages in Avon in 2021, and filmed in 9 cities and towns including: Avon, Boston, Concord, Dedham, Framingham, Lynn, Milton, Waltham, and Wellesley. The pilot episode filmed in: Boston, Cambridge, Dedham, Framingham, Lexington, Lynn, Malden, Waltham, Woburn, and Worcester.
During the more than 6 months that “Julia" was in Massachusetts, the production employed hundreds of Massachusetts residents and local vendors.
Press for the series has already renewed the public's interest in Julia Child's celebrated work and relationship to Massachusetts.
