Guitarist Julian Lage has released the new single “Aberdeen,” a bright, swinging piece recorded during the sessions for the guitarist’s acclaimed album Scenes from Above, which was produced by Joe Henry and features Lage in a quartet with John Medeski on organ and piano, Jorge Roeder on bass, and Kenny Wollesen on drums. DownBeat called the album “intimate yet expansive,” noting that “this is the sound of a band discovering itself in real time,” and praising “Lage’s ever-present earthy brilliance.”

Also produced by Joe Henry, the album features a 6-song set of original compositions and standards, with Lage in a trio with bassist Jorge Roeder and drummer Joey Baron.
