What's your Passion?

My passion is connecting with other people on an authentic level. I feel like we are all on a journey we could never understand, and words fall far short of our true feelings, fears and questions. We are all tied together by the mirror we find in the eyes of those around us. I truly believe that we can live without food and water, but not without the love of others.

Why yoga?

For me yoga offers everything I need, it is the perfect holistic path and changed my life immensely. Exercise itself gives our bodies a massive high and it is only in yoga that this high is met with a teacher, friends and a community that offer a philosophy of Self love, compassion and understanding. On top of the community yoga feeds me spiritually as it offers a path to God, to the great spirit. Yoga is exploding globally not because it is cute and marketable, but rather because it is transforming people coming from ALL walks of life.

What is nourishment to you?

True nourishment to me is balance. In my path I have tended toward the extreme, often over working myself, traveling to long or to far, loving to hard or just over indulging in the pleasures of life. As I evolve I have identified that my passion only serves me if it is in balance. I am constantly checking in with myself, making sure that I am listening to the seed of my being and not the my ego. Meditation is the most powerful tool i have found to maintain balance.

What are you working on?

All of my energy right now is focused on evolving my teachings and growing my business, 'Breathe in Life' which offers wellness and yoga focused tours as well as Yoga Teacher Trainings to India, Thailand, Nicaragua and Indonesia/Bali. I want to touch people's lives and play part in the global revolution of love, creativity and adventure that yoga offers and both of these passions allow me to do this in some beautiful ways. I feel extremely blessed to have these opportunities and I want to show this appreciation in my efforts and devotion.

What would surprise people to know about you?

Well, I spent 2 months in prison in Iran.. I think most people would be surprised to hear that! I am a very adventurous backpacker and enjoy seeing the lesser known parts of the world. My curiosity led me there in 2009 and it is a bit of a long story but I was arrested and accused of spying for the CIA. It was a tough 2 months and as you can imagine this totally changed my life and led me to ask some deeper questions, to seek an understanding of exactly what had happened and why. This experience directly led me to yoga and the practice genuinely saved my life. My healing process through yoga has been incredible and I want to devote my life to offering this to other people in need.

OM Kitchen Recipe

This month's recipe comes from Michelle "Cha Cha" Krause.
2 cups oats
1/2 cup chopped almonds
1/2 cup pumpkin seeds
2 cups puffed cereal (I used gluten free Brown Rice Krispies)
1 cup dried apricots (finely chopped, I used a food processor)
1/2 cup nut butter of choice (I used natural peanut butter)
1 cup honey
1/2 tsp vanilla
Yogurt of choice
Berries of choice
Heat oven to 350*. Place oats, almonds & seeds on a foil lined cookie sheet and bake for 10 min. Turning halfway. In a small saucepan heat nut butter, honey & vanilla until well combined and runny. Remove tray from oven and place contents into a large bowl, add puffed cereal and apricots. Pour contents of saucepan into mixture and combine well. Spray a mini muffin tin with cooking spray and scoop mixture into tin. Use spoon or thumb to create divot for nest. Cool in fridge for an hour (I left mine overnight). Using a spoon pop each one out of the tray. Top with your choice of yogurt and berries.

We Have Salt Lamps!

Salt crystal lamps are natural ion generators, emitting negative ions into the atmosphere. Negative ions restore and neutralize air quality and can improve health. Our homes and offices are filled with electrical appliances and electronics (televisions, computers, florescent lighting, microwaves, heaters, air-conditioners, etc.).

These devices have been blamed for lowering our energy levels, making us feel tired, cranky, and depressed because of their emissions of positive ions. Keeping a rock salt lamp in areas where positive ions are polluting your air space can help neutralize the air you breathe. Balancing positive and negative ions can also help reduce airborne infections.
