It has been said that a civilization's culture can be determined by the nature and quantity of its parks. If this is true, then Palm Beach County is truly a civilized place to live, work and play. Our parks are a place where families, friends and pets can come together in a safe open public space and have fun.

The Fourth of July Celebration at Sunset Cove Amphitheater drew thousands of people as we all cheered for our country's birthday. As the third largest county in population out of 67 counties (1.5 million) it is so very important to encourage and celebrate our parks.

For 50 years, our Palm Beach County Parks and Recreation Department has provided diverse, safe and exciting recreation services for our residents and guests. With over 110 parks and recreational facilities, you must have a favorite one that you would like to tell us about. Be sure to let me know!

Commissioner Maria Sachs; School District of Palm Beach County School Board Members; the City of Boca Raton elected officials; and representatives of the Blue Lake Elementary project
I had the privilege of attending a special tour of the newly developed Blue Lake Elementary School led by the School District of Palm Beach County Superintendent Mike Burke and school board members.

Blue Lake Elementary School is located at 799 Banyan Trail in Boca Raton. The school was built to alleviate overcrowding at several area schools and will officially open its doors for the start of the upcoming 2022-2023 school year on Aug. 10.
I am a senior who lives in west Boynton Beach and it is difficult for me to drive a distance to walk my dogs. What dog parks are available in my area?

Unfortunately, there is only one dog park in south county. It is the Canine Cove Park located at the Burt Aaronson South County Regional Park, 12551 Glades Road, Boca Raton.

Do you think we could use more dog parks? If so, let me know and where. You can send me an email at msachs@pbcgov.org.
